It really doesn't get any better than this! Come share our Garden of Eden; we live in the North Portland Overlook neighborhood, walking distance to the up and coming Mississippi Arts District.

We are 3 blocks from a Max stop, Portland's street car; a 15 min. ride into downtown (and the train station!) and 45 min. ride to the airport. Alternatively, we are on a major bike route with about a 15-20 min. ride into downtown (and we can rent you a bike!!). As well, by car, we are a 10 min. drive to downtown and a 15 min. drive to the airport.

Our home is an urban permaculture farm; all of the landscaping is edible and organic, we have 10 beautiful chickens and one honey bee colony (they hang out in the back corner of the garden and without mention you wouldn't even know they were there!) As well, our neighborhood is surrounded in beautiful gardens. The interior of the home is being remodeled into an eco modern paradise utilizing all sustainable and non-toxic materials. Don't worry, we are not currently working on any projects, there are just a few unfinished projects around the house! We are very environmentally conscious; we recycle everything and compost, our electricity is sourced 100% from wind power through our provider, as well, our gas heating comes from the Methane produced on dairy farms! Additionally as part of our house remodel we are updating the house to be as energy efficient as possible.

We have two rooms available to rent, so if this one isn't available check on the other! Both bedrooms have very comfortable queen sized beds and can hold a single cot (that we can provide) for a third person. The bedrooms are private, but we share a bathroom. : ) There is ample shared space throughout the house and you will have access to wireless internet.

Access to on-site laundry and continental (or gourmet!) breakfast can be provided upon request for a nominal fee. We are great cooks and buy mainly local, organic produce and pasture-fed meats. Depending on the season we may have fresh fruit and veggies from the garden available, as well as fresh eggs from our chickens! We also have a fully stocked kitchen available to you and New Seasons Market, Portland's local grocery store, is only two Max stops away or a 15 min. walk!

Enjoy a walk to the Mississippi Neighborhood where you'll find quaint coffee shops, fabulous boutiques, yoga studios, spa's, music venues and pubs. There are a number of amazing local restaurants nearby with your choice of Thai, Mexican, Italian, pizza and southern food to name a few, as well as a variety of gourmet food carts. And lets not forget another thing Portland is known for.... beer! Widmer Brewing is down the road as well as McMenamins (White Eagle) and lesser known Amnesia Brewing. You might also enjoy relaxing in our backyard garden!

Our home is shared with our loving miniature schnauzer Bo. He loves guests and likes to greet them when they arrive! Damien and I are pleased to meet new people - we can sit and chat, or just smile and say hi as you come and go. As well, we are happy to give advice on great ways to explore the area.

  • We had a great time. Joelle is a wonderful host and made us feel very welcomed. We especially liked how close it was to walk to public transportation, both light rail and trains, and how we were able to get around Portland so easily. It was fun meeting other guests in the house and learning about the farm. Super!

Joelle and Damian were great hosts. The earthy atmosphere of the place was very pleasant and added some more warmth to our stay in Portland. It was great to check out the little farm with hens in the backyard. The room was clean and cozy with a nice big bed. And of course, we really dug the heated bathroom floors! The house is located in the Overlook neighborhood. Mississippi Street is walking distance and has a lot to offer whether you want to go for shopping, dining, or even getting a Portlander style haircut. If you are going across the river, make sure to make a stop by the food truck area for some eats and get a pint at the German pub Prost. I would highly recommend Attunement Urban Farm Eco Cozy for anyone looking for an authentic Portland experience.

Joelle and Damien's house made me feel like I was at home. They were gracious hosts, and made me feel very welcome. Also, their dog, Bo, is very adorable.

  • Wow! What a great experience. As a fellow permaculture designer it was a really great experience staying with like-minded people and getting to see what they were up to with their space. The urban farm is wonderful. The guest rooms are perfect, very comfortable. The kitchen space is setup very well for guests, everything is nicely labelled. The atmosphere is tastefully urban-country-chic and a pleasure to be in. For anyone who's ecologically-minded, or just interested in what a fledgling urban farm might be like - I highly recommend this place. Thanks Joelle!

  • We had a fantastic time in Portland, and much of this was down to staying with our wonderful hosts in their great house. We feel we got to see the real Portland, and we certainly think it was a better option than staying in the town centre. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Joelle and Damien (not fogetting Bo!) and the two other guests who turned up towards the end of our stay. Ours was a really positive experience in general and we look back on our stay in Portland with very considerable warmth.

  • Joelle's place was lovely. It was easy to find, well located for getting around the city, and there was plenty of parking outside. Joelle greeted us warmly and showed us around the house and garden. Breakfast was provided with many tea options and other goodies. Our room was clean, comfy, and quiet. The bathroom and shower were nice as well, plus it featured a pretty awesome heated floor. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

  • We stayed with Joelle, Damien and Bo for two nights while on vacation and had a great time! They were really helpful and their home was very comfortable and relaxed. I especially had a good time seeing all of their projects for the garden, getting to see the chickens, and playing with Bo (he could tell that I was homesick for my own pup). We would definitely stay with them again.

The perfect way to experience Portland. The house is lovely, and the bed so nice and warm I slept for about 12 hours! The location is great for the Mississippi district and there's good transport to the rest of the city. Really felt at home here, and Joelle, Damien and Bo the dog were all very friendly.

  • Joelle and Damien are super warm and friendly people who are passionate about permaculture and holistic health. The room was very comfortable, and the heated bathroom floor was AMAZING after a long walk in the rain. Joelle also has a very impressive tea collection and her bees produce the most amazing honey! Her dog, Bo, was also extremely sweet and friendly. The house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, but is also a convenient 5 minute walk away from the MAX yellow line, and from there it's only 3-4 stops to downtown Portland! We loved this house and will definitely be staying here again the next time we're in Portland!
