“Janice and I have been friends for over ten years. I decided to visit D.C in October 2011 for an extended weekend. My trip goals were to: hang out with Janice, witness the MLK memorial commemoration ceremony, checkout the Smithsonian Museums, and experience some nightlife.
Thankfully, Janice has a comfy duplex space in Tacoma Park, (D.C. area) Maryland. I was quite happy to crash in her extra room that is equipped with converted futon and other amenities. I also enjoyed relaxing on the patio adjacent to the room that overlooks the quiet neighborhood.
Not only a good host at home, Janice is also a helpful guide to the city and use of the Metro transit system. Conveniently, Janice's pad is only 1/4 mile to the Metro station. This made traveling to and from the airport or various DC points of interest very easy.
Janice, is a traveller herself, so is a culturally aware, open minded, and respectful travel host. If it's privacy you seek, this is easily accommodating since she is very busy with school and work. But if you require some guidance and tips for your stay, she has a lot of information (or knows where to find information) about different districts/areas/flavors of DC. ”
