Randonnée au lever du soleil à Boulder
We will start this hike early in the morning to take advantage of the cool air, morning light, and avoid crowds. Led only by moonlight, we will hike near Chautauqua Park, but to a far less popular trail that after traversing and some low-level climbing, we will sit above Boulder to watch the sunrise and take in the gorgeous views of the Flatirons and nearby foothills. My company, Cairn Outdoor Guides, offers adventures in Telluride, Denver, and Boulder, so If you'd like to save some money and support my business and its mission to guide mental health outdoors, look up Cairn Outdoor Guides where you can easily book this activity or others like rock climbing, Nordic skiing, sensory nature experiences, and cycling. We also offer a flex plan that makes getting outside even more affordable. Please contact me if you'd like to discuss other hiking options if this hike isn't quite what you're looking for or have other questions. I recommend you review the "Things to Know" section of my website at www.cairnguides.com if you have questions about what to bring. Other things to note If you have pet allergies or any considerable medical conditions let me know ahead of time as this is intended to be a safe and dog-friendly experience.
Festin luxueux au sommet de Gregory Canyon
**Please note my contact info should Airbnb cancel and you still want to go. I'm happy to take you privately but you'll need to reach out to me. Ph: 303-564-4363 Enjoy a hard-earned chef-prepared feast at the top of a hidden Colorado Canyon. Gregory Canyon is a gem. This spectacular hike is a strenuous workout limited to the physically fit. It's every bit as beautiful as the other better-known area hikes but because its trailhead is tucked away, it is a private oasis, even on a crazy summer or fall weekend day. We'll meet at the Chautauqua Ranger's Station where I'll guide you further up the canyon to the trailhead. Immediately, we'll begin our journey with a steep ascent, traversing a small creek, climbing a series of large rock boulders forming a natural rock staircase straight up the canyon. After roughly a half mile climb we'll come to a ladder, bolted securely into rock to safely traverse the steepest portion of all. From this vantage point we can see back into the canyon with miles of views, and hike up a large grouping of boulders as our final climb and resting place. Best yet, I'm a professional chef so we'll celebrate at the top with a custom prepared well-deserved feast! PLANNED MENU: Curried chicken salad, tart apple, lime, & roast pecans over fresh arugula Mini chocolate pots de crème Medjool Date and Macadamia Balls *Vegetarian available Other things to note This hike is difficult and at altitude. It's a really fun challenge but can be tough, even for someone quite fit. 6.4 miles with 1490 feet altitude gain. Get ready to sweat!

Lily Lake Night Sky Packrafting Trip, Two Hour Adventure
You'll hike a half mile around Lily Lake with a former Park Ranger of Rocky Mountain National Park, learn how to set up a packraft and paddle under the stars or moonlit night sky! Only FIVE people may packraft at one time. If your group size is larger than five, please reach out and we would be happy to accommodate; however, we would just need to take turns packrafting for groups of six or more participants. Our two hour paddling adventure will take you roughly one mile round-trip around Lily Lake with no elevation gain and as much paddling as you can handle. We'll spend the night talking about Rocky and packraft with some amazing views of its dark skies. This adventure will last two hours, returning to the Lily Lake Trailhead thereafter. We also offer custom times, dates and group sizes by request. We hope this immersive experience will deepen your connection to this wild landscape and inspire you to do more to protect wild landscapes and aquatic ecosystems in your neck of the woods and around the world. We include all packrafting equipment and a granola bar for each participant. Please be prepared for potentially windy and cold conditions on the water. You'll likely get wet while packrafting, so be prepared to embrace the elements!
Expérience à Dragon Ranch dans un superbe cadre montagneux
The Dragon Ranch Experience The thing about dragons is the magic, mystery, and awe they bring. Our goal is that Dragon Ranch will do the same. Whether it be the magic of watching and meeting our goats, sheep, llamas, longhorns and horses which range in size from miniatures to draft, or fishing for mountain trout in our ponds (additional cost to fish). Experience the awe of our beautiful aspen filled nature trails throughout our working ranch, or go back through history as you visit a blacksmith shop built in 1860, and a Milk House built in the late 1800’s among other historic ranch structures from the original homesteaders. You will be able to experience a way of life that is disappearing. All of our buildings and trails are named after American Medal of Honor recipients, which serve as a reminder that the freedoms we share are a gift to be cherished. We always strive to have babies throughout the year so we can provide great experiences (and photos) with our baby goats, longhorns, sheep, llamas, and mini horses. We will teach you about each one of the different animals on our ranch, what they are used for, and how they coexist with us here on the ranch to include our livestock dogs who live with our livestock. We will also provide fun lessons in herding some of our sheep or roping. The myth begins. Welcome to Dragon Ranch.
Randonnée et festin à la frontière continentale
If I had to say there's one hidden sanctuary away from everything else, an as-yet undiscovered paradise, this is IT! The day begins at an unassuming trail head, tucked back up Eldorado Canyon with a large gravel ascending path as a total ruse for what lies ahead. Over the course of the next 3-4 hours we'll hike and explore the canyon with its' steep rock walls, towering mountains, and deep valley below. After taking in the spectacular canyon views, we'll connect to Rattlesnake Gulch and continue to climb to the ruins of the old Craggs Hotel, built at the turn of the century and once accessible only by railroad or wagon. It burned down only four years after it was built, but the stone fireplace remains; some of the best preserved masonry from that time period in existence. The final culmination of our tour is 1100' higher than our start; a birds eye view of the Continental Divide with panoramic views that will totally take your breath away. Here we'll enjoy a fully prepared picnic lunch, take tons of great photos, and enjoy a welcome rest before the trek down. Other things to note This hike is the perfect choice if you aren't necessarily an experienced or technical hiker but love a good adventure, are always up for a challenge, and getting your heart rate up a bit.
Goat Hike Along the Ol' Miners' Trail
“Valerie is an awesome host, she made the whole experience very fun and delightful. She is great at bringing the group of strangers together in such a short time. And the goats are just fantastic.” We begin our goat hike at the STAGE STOP, 20 minutes West of Boulder. After introducing ourselves, some Western lore, and the "girls" (goats), we'll start our hike through the historic living museum beginning with the Cloud City mining district. I’ll tell stores from the miners’ journals as I point out relics from their lives and mines. You will be selfing with the goats, taking panoramic pics of the mountain scenery and enjoying the mountain climb. You'll be seeing old mine portals, the school house and root cellar, stone walls, mine tunnels and stone cabin foundations. The land reveals many secrets of the past and I'll be sharing them with you. Along the way there is time for water and breathing. The famous Downhill Goat Race will conclude our adventure. Each hiker will steers her goat down the hillside to the winner’s circle. Back to the STAGE STOP, where we began, I'll offer lunch ideas and local adventures you might enjoy. Then we bid adieu. "The hike with Valerie and her goats was the highlight of our trip. We mistakenly went to Boulder and Denver, when her location and stories offer everything to experience the real beauty and history of Colorado."
