Ce que vous allez faire

Hailed as "Food Heaven of Asia", Penang has a lot of amazing food to offer. We'll learn to cook Char Koay Teow, the signature Penang hawker street food dish from scratch. After we pick you up, we'll arrive to our beautiful home with breathtaking bird eye view of Penang. You will prepare my version of multi-black seasoning for the noodle, the tasty secret of this dish where you could use it for any other Asian dishes. You will prepare sliced fish cakes, big fresh tiger prawns, chives and stir-fry them on the traditional Chinese wok, which I will share my professional tips to get "wok hei" - the smell of the wok that contribute to the incredible aroma of this dish. A simple dish like this is easy to remake back home and tasty! Along the class, you'll taste nutmeg juice, which is a refreshing native-grown fruit. We'll sit and enjoy what you have prepared, and learn a little more about Malaysian gastronomy and street food culture. After this, we'll take a hop to the night market where we'll do a food hunt, based on what we pick during the class. Experience it like a local as you order them in our "Hokkien" language. It will be a fun & engaging way to discover Malaysian street food through its roots - language, ingredients and how it evolved.

I'm a professional chef with 10 years of experience in international hotel chains. I am from Mentakab, a little place near east coast of Malaysia. My passion for experimenting new flavours has brought me to Penang. I love many of Penang hawker food, and has mastered the skills into making em' throughout the years. I live in Penang, together with my fiancee, Jacqueline who herself is a local Penangites. What's funny? I have ate Char Koay Teow daily for a streak of 2 weeks when I first arrived here, and still my favourite till now!

My high rise home has breathtaking 360 bird eye Penang view of cityscapes and beautiful coastlines. We'll spend a hour or two laid back at this quaint town just a mere 15 mins drive from the George Town city centre. We'll have highlight visit to the Penang bustling night market, which happens to be in different area daily where you get to sightsee local's nightlife.
