A trip down memory lane with Berlin locals:
You will meet two Berlin locals- from East and West and you will find out about their life's in the GDR and in West Berlin before the Berlin Wall came down and after 30 years of being reunified as a country.
We'll talk about our personal life experience in Berlin, about society's and community's that came out of two different political systems and about an typical East- and West Berliner.
We'll start the experience at the historical former checkpoint Bornholmer strasse, where the Berlin Wall first fell and talk about the Cold War time, why the Berlin Wall was built and why it fell. Regina was demonstrating for freedom, every Monday...and I grew up in West Berlin, the Island in the communism. Life there was also completely different compare to West Germany and of course to the East.
After the historical part we walk (2km) on the "No mans land", an area that is not at all touristic, to an cozy cafeteria where we meet Regina and where we have the time to go in deeper conversations.
In the end of the experience we visit the most popular park in Berlin- "Mauerpark" with the biggest flea market on weekends, live karaoke, underground vibes and legal graffiti art on the former hidden East Berlin Wall.

Hi, we are Valerie & Regina!
We grew up in the same city but were raised in totally different political systems, one in East- and one in West Berlin.
We are also from two different generations, Regina lived for 28 years in East Berlin and I was just a teenager, when the Berlin Wall fell. But even now after 30 years of being reunified as a country and a people our personal lives are still bearing the marks of the past.
With our personal life experiences, different educations and values we bring history to life and give Berlin visitors the opportunity to get an authentic account of: "How was the life behind the Berlin Wall?" and does the wall still exist in our minds?
We'll talk about the changes in the city, the Cold War, the history of the Berlin Wall, the characters in the east and west, and how reunification of Germany has worked out.

This was the best part of my trip to Berlin. Both of these women lived in Berlin when the wall was up and currently live there. They tell amazing stories about how the wall affected and continues to affect Berliners. It was three hours but I could have easily sat there for another three.

Valerie and Regina were incredibly open and honest when sharing their history with us. They shared personal experiences and offered new perspectives from before, during, and after the wall fell. They kept us engaged, and answered all our questions. Valerie even provided us with more suggestions for the rest of our time in Berlin. There is no other experience like this out there- if you’re going to do one tour, make it this one.

This is the quintessential airbnb experience that you won’t find anywhere else. Valerie and Regina are so open, honest, and warm. They each provide their point of view of Berlin’s broken recent past. Their stories are poignant and meaningful. Pay attention and you’ll really love it, if you’re into this sorta thing.
