Au programme

This is an opportunity to get up close and personal with a young but diverse food forest. The first trees were planted in 2013 so it's far from mature but it's already easy to see many of the symbiotic relationships in action. There are over three hundred edible perennial varieties already growing including forty varieties of fruit & nut trees, dozens of unusual shrubs, berry bushes and medicinal plants, plus seventy kinds of perennial vegetable. Learn about self-sustaining ecosystems, companion planting and perennial vegetables whilst asking as many questions as you like and tasting some produce along the way. There'll be a chance to learn more about sustainable bee-keeping with a look at an observation hive for those who wish to. The tour will be tailored to suit you, depending upon your or your group's existing knowledge or interests. And we can talk about how to apply some forest garden principles to your own garden over a cup of tea or coffee at the end.

Rob

I became a professional gardener in 2011 and since starting my own forest garden project in 2013 have dedicated myself to learning as much about agroforestry as possible. I've been giving talks & lectures to the schools and gardening clubs of Somerset on all things permaculture since 2014, with subjects ranging from 'perennial vegetables for the smaller garden' to 'the benefits of balanced bee-keeping'. I am truly passionate about working with nature, as opposed to against it, which is something that becomes evident to those who come to experience the project. In 2017 I began running tours around my plot, due to popular demand. And in September 2019 I was fortunate enough to be featured in an episode of the BBC's Gardeners' World.

Plus de conseils

I only add availability for about two months in advance. So if you're looking to book further ahead than that then keep an eye on the calendar as more dates will appear every month. Although there are dates available throughout the winter months, the garden is at its best from April to October.
