Au programme

Guests will be greeted warmly with an herbal elixir, then guided on a short tour of my home, library, and collections. Guests will be beckoned around the spiritual hearth of my home for a brief introduction to some of my ritual objects and my uses for them. We will share homemade treats, and weather permitting, we may gather around a bonfire in the garden. Each guest is asked to bring a small object that you use often for a ritual (examples: your "go to" mug for coffee/tea each morning, a journal you record thoughts in regularly, a garment that gives you an extra boost of confidence, a piece of jewelry that makes you feel comforted or protected) or an object that is of deep significance to you that you might only use on special occasions (examples: an heirloom passed down to you, a religious or spiritual relic, something you collected while traveling). Guests will be invited to share about their object with the group.

Sarah

I am a witch. Witchcraft, in its many different manifestations, is practiced all over the globe and has a deep and diverse history. Witchcraft is portrayed to the American mainstream through folklore, popular culture, and historical narrative. While often linked with spiritual and/or religious beliefs, witchcraft in and of itself is a non-religious practice. I identify as a modern atheist witch. I'm not a historian, anthropologist, or scholar on the subject. I simply enjoy engaging in conversations that demystify witchcraft or, rather, that explore the rich complexity of witchcraft. Every witch's practice is entirely unique. I endeavor to represent only my own personal practice. I'm enjoy sharing about my lifestyle with like minds (other practitioners) as well as with open minds (those who are interested in learning about my practice).

Le lieu

My home is a quaint Craftsman bungalow built in 1914 and moved to its current site in the 1930s. The house is located in a vibrant and diverse neighborhood in the City of Pasadena. Filled with family heirlooms, souvenirs from travel, magical objects, and contemporary art, the house is a cozy enclave for artists, travelers, and friends old and new.
