Au programme

Orcas Island, Washington Moran State Park Mountain Lake Trail Hike and Picnic

Hosted by Didier Gincig; 3.5 hours total; 3.9 miles; offered in English

Snacks and equipment provided

I will take guests to great locations during a hike around Mountain Lake in Moran State Park, sharing the natural beauty that Orcas Island is famous for, learning about the natural and cultural history of the islands.

Far away from the hustle of the city, experience quiet and peace of mind. You’ll learn about local natural history and island lore. Perhaps we’ll see the often sighted bald eagles and osprey fishing for salmon and trout.

We will have a picnic lunch while enjoying hammocks in the woods by a mountain lake eating local food at a picturesque site. We'll learn about the history of food on the island and what is happening currently in local agriculture.

You’ll go home with photos and memories to last a lifetime.

What I’ll provide:

local knowledge, picnic lunch, local refreshments
Hammocks

Check-in will be fifteen minutes prior to the hike. Please be sure to bring a good pair of shoes, a bathing suit, and a towel.

We will meet at the base of Mt. Constitution at the Mountain Lake parking lot. Each guest will be consulted prior to the date of the experience so that it can be planned with clarity

25 years exploring Orcas Island, Washington in the San Juan Island, I enjoy sharing my love and knowledge of this place with others.

I've been to Mountain Lake thousands of times and have learned much about the natural hisplace and about the island. As a school teacher, I learned the importance of passion and curiosity. It's not just what we'll be doing, it's the island spirit in which we'll do it.

It's not only that you will learn facts about the island, we'll take an insider's look at great locations and learn about the natural beauty that Orcas Island is famous for.

I enjoy setting people up in hammocks by a mountain lake, reading a short excerpt about the place, and watching their worries dissolve.

Dried local pears, plums, and apples; local strawberries; island grown, curated by Didier for your pleasure.
