You have picked a great time to visit Boston!

Boston is one of the most walkable cities in America - it’s lovely to explore on foot. We’ll be walking about 3,000 steps/1 mile.

We will meet at a coffee shop along the Freedom Trail. Feel free to buy something there while we get acquainted & start our exploration of the people & events of the founding of Boston & the early years of the American Revolution.

We will head out on foot to walk a portion of the Freedom Trail. You will see & learn about the Old State House & the Boston Massacre, the Old Corner Bookstore & the Irish Famine Memorial & the Old South Meeting House - where the Tea Party started. Next, we head up School Street to learn about the Old City Hall & visit the site of the first public school in America. We’ll step into the oldest continuously run hotel in America & explore the rich history of this beautiful hotel.

Onto King’s Chapel Church & the oldest burial ground in Boston.

We will see the brutalist masterpiece- New City Hall & conclude at the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area.

You might want to shop or get a drink or meal at one of the many restaurants & bars at the end of the tour.

I will share recommendations for things to do & places to eat.

Join me to explore Boston & the Freedom Trail.

Ellen was an incredible guide and storyteller! She explained the vast and important history of Boston that led to the American Revolution. Although I was taught this in grade school, I never paid attention. Now as an adult, I have a genuine interest to learn and Ellen was an exceptional teacher. I learned more in two hours with her than I did in my elementary history class. Absolutely recommend this tour!!

Ellen is SUPER knowledgeable. My head was exploding with all of the new knowledge—in a good way. Much better than doing the trail on your own. Ellen was a great story-teller and had great tone throughout the whole tour. She also provided great recommendations and answered any questions we had.

This tour is excellent, I have only praise for Ellen and the very enlightening information she gives on the tour. Ellen is engaging, friendly and takes all the questions patiently. In the tour you feel like you are taking a walk with old friends. I truly recommend this tour because it’s different from the regular kind of boring tours where you hear dates and facts, Ellen has insight and has researched the best, most interesting stories that will keep the group engaged and would make you feel that the time flew.

Superior storytelling! I am not a history buff and Ellen made learning about our American history fascinating, accessible and fun. Boston through and through, easy - going, considerate (it got a bit windy so we dipped into a building for a bit), smart conversationalist. Loved it. Didn't want it to end.
