Au programme

An unforgettable, educational experience visiting the unique glow worms after a short walk through World Heritage listed forest and rainforest. We will meet at sunset, spending a little time introducing ourselves and safety briefing.
Then as the stars begin to appear, with the use of torches, we will begin our 20 minute walk to the overhanging cave and waterfall, with the possibility of seeing our amazing nocturnal wildlife. Possums, gliders, owls and bats to name just a few. Another truly amazing encounter, only within the first 3 weeks of summer is the chance of fireflies. We will spend 30 minutes to an hour in the overhang, behind the waterfall learning about these incredible glowing larvae and why they glow.
The track is mostly in good condition, though there are some stairs and eroded sections, therefore a medium fitness level is required.
Glow worms are extremely sensitive to light and sound so we will ask our clients to respect this and there will be a 5 minute educational talk around this before entering the cave. Smoking is strictly prohibited on this tour. We recommend bringing your own torches, though we can supply if needed.
Minimal impact is very high on our list of priorities and instructions will be given on how to achieve this. We ask our clients to adhere to these rules.

Le lieu

Hazelbrook is lovely small town in the heart of the mid mountains, 20 mins drive from the iconic tourist destination Katoomba. Your own transport is preferable for this tour but not necessary.
We will stop to look for nocturnal wildlife along the track and arrive into a beautiful overhanging cave with a small waterfall.

Your bushland education starts here! We went expecting to see glow worms obviously but along the way learnt things about the bush that we didnt know despite living around it our whole life...things such as swamp sponge, slugs, edible plants, slugs, stars, spiders and slugs...yes Jamie is very enthusiastic about slugs haha. Very funny guide and his love of nature shone through the tour. As for the stars of the tour...the glow worms and their cave was magical and outshone the actual stars which were spectacular being a clear winter night. It was a surreal experience being able to see by the light of such tiny creatures.

Really good short tour. Jamie is so passionate and amusing. He loves nature and it was fun to watch him tell us about survival tips and some history. The location was great and the glow-worms were like watching stars. It was a lot of fun.
