Experience the beauty and taste of the Chianti countryside

I would like to invite you to experience my home, Fattoria Villa Spoiano. A beautiful spot of land my parents deeply fell in love with in 1985. We will tour the farm starting from the panoramic terrace where you will learn about the history of the 400 year old building, the Chianti region and the current production of our organic farm. We passionately produce wine and olive oil, vegetables, pigs, cows.
After the introduction, we will go on a walk through the vineyards and olive groves to see how we tend the vines, work in the fields and, if we are lucky, we will be able to see our special workers in action: Irish Dexter cows. They live freely on our land and help us cut the grass in the vineyards and olive groves, fertilizing at the same time.
Once we’re done with the outdoor excursion we will visit the vinsantaia and the cellar where you will be able to learn about the transformation process from grapes into wine.
The experience will end by a table, tasting the products we just learned how to produce.

A few things to note:
-it is possible to reach us by bus but there are few, please have a look at the "notes" section to see the schedules or contact me beforehand.
-"standard" tour time is about 2 hours but if there are a lot of questions it might take a little longer. I love curious guests.
-please write me if you would like to arrange the tour at a different day/time.

Born in the Chianti region and raised between vineyards, I am lucky to call this beautiful farm my home. I studied wine marketing and management at the University of Florence and I am currently completing my Sommelier certification.
I like to share my passion for wine but also the sustainable lifestyle philosophy, showing everyone what it is like to work on a farm and to live off the products we grow on our own.

Le lieu

We will start from our garden. With the beautiful Chianti hills servig as background, I will tell you about the history of the farm and how it all started. We will then visit the Chapel and other important parts of the building such as the Vinsantaia and the Cellars. During the tour, if it's not raining, we will walk a little bit trough the land and see the vineyards and olive groves.

What a great experience at Jara's home, I will personally recommend this to anyone I know traveling to Italy! I've been on 4 winery tours before this, but I learned more about wine on this tour than the previous 4 combined. The host was also so nice to my girlfriend and me. We even stayed at her home for an extra hour to get to know each other better!

Jara is the ultimate definition of a host. She cared about me and my group before the experience and even after it, making sure I was safe on my way back to Florence. She made all the efforts to make the experience as a whole comfortable and convenient for us. Jara was also very understanding of an unfortunate situation my friends had and that did not change at all the quality of the visit. Furthermore, the place is absolutely stunning - everything about it - and winter time did not ruin that. And, of course, the wines were actually very good. I'm far from a connoisseur, but every time I drink or eat something I want it to be good, and that was delivered - I even took home three bottles with me. I'm so glad I had this experience. It was totally worth the time and I recommend it to everyone who has the opportunity to have it.

Jara was an amazing host. I travelled to Fattoria Villa Spoiano in Tavarnelle by bus, which took more than 1,5h because of a detour (road works). It should, however, take 50-60 minutes in a normal situation I was told. Jara was very helpful in telling me how to take the bus and she even shared her live location with me and picked me up at the bus stop to make it easier for me. She gave me a tour and told a lot about the history of the winery and about growing grapes and making wine. It was very interesting and I learned a lot! I was lucky to be the only one attending this tour (probably because it was in December). After the tour we did a tasting, which was very nice as well. Jara was kind enough to drop me off at the bus station of Tavarnelle with her car afterwards. I would definitely recommend this experience!

Stop what you're doing and BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE. What an incredible day. I spent a week in the Tuscany region and the afternoon on Jara's farm + winery was my favorite part about my trip, hands down. We saw the grounds of the family farm and winery and Jara's level of knowledge about wine-making, olive oil production, and organic farming, far surpassed my expectations. The tasting was a phenomenal end to the experience. Jara was incredibly helpful before the experience, going above and beyond helping with transportation to the farm. She even checked to make sure we got home okay. I can't recommend this enough! A dreamy day!

Jara was a fantastic host! She was very friendly, and helped us throughout the process of figuring out bus routes to and from the villa, greeted us at the bus stop with a smile, and even gave us a ride to the bus stop after the tour. We felt thoroughly welcomed. She explained the cultivation process and unique requirements of bottling chianti wine, and tailored the tour to our interests (showing us the cows and taking family photos for the whole group). Jara answered our many questions expertly and with a sense of humor. The villa was beautiful as well, with great views and a fascinating history. The organic wines were delicious, as was the charcuterie paired with them. Highly recommend this tour!

We started our journey to Jara by being late for the bus and having to stop for bathroom - she was so accommodating and understanding. She graciously picked us up from a further location and showed us the most wonderful time. Her family's history is undeniably interesting and visiting the vineyards was an amazing educational fun experience. I suggest the tour before wine tasting..its like cherry on top. We left with a bottle of their Chianti and a new sense of respect for Wine and the traditions of family and hard work for a passion. Thank you Jara!
