Au programme

We'll head to a few izakaya bars for a few drinks and snacks the first hour. We wont start eating until the second hour. its best to have something small before we start the experience or during as well. We will be mostly drinking along the way.

Izakaya are known as Japanese pubs, or the literal term "inside drinking shop". and Yokochos are widely known as one of the best places to explore in Tokyo, but many don’t know of its local reputation for eclectic little bars and gastropubs. Some are so off-the-grid that even Google Maps doesn’t know of their existence! Most of these tiny bars are located all around Tokyo. Yokochos are home to 1950s themed pubs, record-scratching bartenders, unique cuisine, and even a bar where the staff drink with you! Bar hopping in Yokochos is for sure the best way to explore the winding maze of historic pubs and eateries.

Each Yokocho bar only seats a few people, with some of the smallest seating only seven. No sooner will you have sat down and ordered a drink than you’ll be drawn into the exuberant atmosphere, conversing with talkative locals. Whether or not you speak Japanese, Harmonica Yokocho is the perfect place to strike up a conversation with your neighbors at the bar counter, because even if you don’t know Japanese, I'll be happy to interpret. Soon, you’ll be cracking jokes and saying “kampai!” like a local!

I have delve into the world of Izakayas for many years. Whats an Izakaya you ask? The literal terms is "inside drinking shop" or just Japanese bars. They are unique and all over Japan, but difficult to enter because many are Japanese only. I call these places my second home and love connecting people with the local scene. I wanna bridge the gap between locals and travelers and create a connection that travelers can call a place home. I have been living in Japan for 4+ years so I know a lot about the local scene and where to go in Tokyo. I hope to share my love for these locations with airbnb guests and travelers from all over the world. I will also have my staff help me out in case I may not be able to do so myself! Cheers!

Le lieu

Harmonica yokocho began as a flea market during the early years immediately following the second World War, and still has a post-1945 showa-era vibes, creative cuisines, and fantastive drinks. This little stretch of crisscrossing alleyways is home to traditional sweets shops and clothing stores by day, and by night, mini gastropubs which are bathed by the red glow of lanterns. Many patrons of these bars are loyal regulars, stopping by for a drink

Do this experience. Honestly worth your time and money. I got to immerse into culture rather than skim through. Had great time chatting with locals and other travellers. Delicious food, entertainment, and awesome drinks.

This was a very engaging tour around harmonica alley, a bit removed from where your guides and books generally encourage foreigners to visit. The izakayas we visited would likely not be accessible to gaijin without a guide, which is exactly what I want from a guided tour. Fiacro was amiable and knowledgeable despite not being native to Japan. I'd recommend this tour to anyone looking to get a good feel of Tokyo outside of the central districts.

Fiacro will bring you to a journey where you could not have gotten into as a tourist. The food is really good and you speak with japanese locals and hang out with them.

We were able to visit a number of bars that we otherwise would not have been able to. The best part was good times with good people both inside and outside the group, all of which was facilitated by Fiacro. Worth every penny and the long taxi ride home.

Such a cool experience. Fiacro is a great guy who makes you feel comfortable and connected. His tour provided an experience that we never have tried otherwise. Just do it.

Plus de conseils

Please bring cash on hand(about 3000 yen or more). Everyone will need to pay for their own drinks at the other bars. Also smoking indoor is common at the bars. Last train is midnight so be sure to look at the time if you need to head back. This is experience is about being open minded and having fun

Ce qu'il faut apporter

Extra cash for all the izakaya bars. Each establishment requires one drink per person as they are small. 3000-5000 yen on hand should be enough.
