Au programme

Fun for all ages! We’ll start out talking about alpacas, including how to approach and interact with them. Then we will move to the yard and introduce our four alpacas! We’ll explain what makes alpacas unique, and what they like and dislike. We will also share and clear up myths and misconceptions about them. Guests will have the opportunity to pet and feed the alpacas, take one for a walk around the yard, and take lots of pictures. Come with all of your alpaca questions!
Next we will move on to the chicken habitat and everyone will have the opportunity to observe, pet, and feed them. Please feel free to take lots of pictures! We will go in the coop to look for eggs, and finish up the outdoor tour with the smaller chicken coop, where you can meet a member of the smallest chicken breed in the world!
(Coming in summer 2020: The world's largest chicken breed!)
Questions and pictures are encouraged! You’ll be surprised how much variety there is in size, color, and personality. (I have a dozen breeds including rare breeds from a Black Copper Marans to a frizzled Serama.)
Before leaving, you can to wash up, and take a look at chicken eggs of different sizes, colors and shapes.
Other things to note
Alpacas are sensitive creatures. Please DO NOT bring pets or animals of any kind onto the property, not even service animals.

I am an alpaca enthusiast and owner. I have always loved animals. I owned horses for many years, beginning at the age of fifteen when I began working as a trail guide. In 2007 I began to study and apply positive, gentle reinforcement training methods and did volunteer work rehabilitating horses.
I began working with alpacas in 2011 when a pair of rescued alpacas came to the horse farm where I worked. I was intrigued by these unique animals and soon after I was fortunate to work for three years with a wonderful, knowledgeable mentor at Uinta Alpacas, a large alpaca breeding farm. Soon I had a handful of alpacas of my own, who now live in our backyard.
I’m actively involved in the online alpaca community, learning from and sharing with fellow alpaca owners.

It was a fantastic experience. My wife wanted to see the Alpacas and Julie was able to accommodate us at the last minute even though it was raining. Both Julie and her husband are awesome hosts and we had a great time interacting with them. The Alpacas were so adorable and we were able to pet them and feed them. We got to see the hens as well and also saw the different colored egg shells. It was amazing to learn about the upkeep involved in maintaining these amazing animals.

It was such a pleasure to meet Julie and Craig's alpacas and hens!! Our family absolutely ADORED our time with them all and have already raved about them to our friends. Meeting alpacas are truly a magical experience, and these hens were surprisingly so beautiful, too, with funny personalities to boot. In addition, Julie makes these incredibly cute figurines made of alpaca wool/yarn, and we have named our sheep Stanley, in honor of the first alpaca we met. If you're in the Salt Lake City area, this event is a must-do!!

We had a great time meeting the alpacas and chickens! Julie was kind and informative, and she clearly loves her animals. She opened up a slot for us so we could make our flight, which we super appreciated. We left with great memories and photos of our time. Thanks, Julie!
