Au programme

Kampung Baru, the last Malay enclave…located in the heart of Kula Lumpur city, was opened by my forefathers in the 1880's. A Village Laid Back…Kampung means Village and Baru means New….literally a ‘New Village’. Kampung Baru offers a glimpse of the ethnic Malay lifestyle and it is home to Malay families who have lived there for the last 4 generations! Kampung Baru is living museum, a history in it’s time. It’s residents continues to preserve the tradition and stories that exists within it’s walls.

With Petronas Twin Towers that form a beautiful backdrop to this quaint kampung setting, a visit to my Kampung Baru is an experience to cherish. As the 4th generation native of Kampung Baru, it is my pleasure to take you around my beloved Kampung, discover its local life, foodie, architecture and cultural sights! I will take you to places where locals indulge and places not many tourists frequent. Come chill with me!

Le lieu

We will be visiting the last Malay enclave here in central Kuala Lumpur to sample it's local life, culture and history. Along the way, stop to taste local street food, observe local life and visit my house...a Malay home!

We will then see Masjid Kampung Baru (since 1890's). It has recently been re-built, decorated with eye-catching tiles, rich in traditional Islamic patterns modern mosque. A hidden gem that is not yet over flocked by tourist.

It was very special to learn about Kampung Baru at a very personal level and to have a fabulous dinner in local restaurant. It is amazing to see this neighborhood so close to the skyscrapers and modern city. Fuad is very personal, fun and interesting!

A very genuine, personal experience of life in Kampung Bahru. Done at a relaxed pace we really felt welcomed by the villagers of all ages. Fuad our host was very experienced and likeable and the tour which was over the 3 hours went really quickly.

Kampung Baru could be just an old village if you go there on your own without knowing anything about it. But after I spend some time with Fuad, the best mankind I've ever met in Malaysia, this place just turned out the most memorable place for myself and also for my family as well. I definitely recommend this wonderful experience to anyone who are looking for something different while looking at the KL from genuinely authentic point of view. You'll never experience anything like this from elsewhere because there will be no Kamfung Baru with Fuad.

We had a lovely experience with Fuad and his family. He gave us a tour of the last traditional Malay village still existing in KL. It was refreshing to find such humble people still holding on to their heritage amidst all the changes and ever expanding city. We had a fantastic evening, experienced hospitality, met amazing people, had delicious authentic food. Thank you so much. We would definitely recommend this tour.

We had a most unique evening with Faud, but the highlight was the impromptu musical jam session in his own home with his family, that made the meeting of two cultures so poignant and meaningful. I brought my Chinese friend from Shanghai, who was in Malaysia for the first time and having such a memorable experience in a traditional Malay home in Kampung Baru means she will always preserve this impression of Malay culture as welcoming, warm, and have this connection to it. And vice versa for Faud's family to be able to hear a Chinese national who can barely speak English, much less Malay, sing Chinese classics as she plays the family's piano, and feel her spirit through the vibrancy of her song. These are the kinds of cultural interactions that allow us to feel our common humanness, and are so necessary. Thank you to Faud for making this possible. Below is what my Chinese friend wanted to say:
