A unique fall or winter adventure!

Just minutes from the busy, bustling downtown core of the city you’ll find the Toronto Islands–a five-kilometre oasis of interconnected islands that locals have been escaping to for fun, relaxation and tranquility for over 200 years.

The Islands are a popular destination during the spring and summer months, but are largely forgotten by locals and visitors during the fall and winter - a great time to experience the serenity of the Islands in a way that very few locals do!

You'll explore the beauty of the islands, the history and attractions, a quaint cottage enclave which is one of the largest car-free communities in North America, and stunning views of the Toronto skyline.

Worried about riding in Toronto in the Winter? Don’t believe the rumours. During winter Toronto is anything but the North Pole. In fact, the average day-time temperature is warmer than many think, and paths and roadways are usually snow-free and dry. We provide cycling blankets (ponchos) and gloves to keep you warm. All of this means wintertime is a wonderful time to take our Islands Bike Tour!

I'm a lifelong Torontonian and my love for my city grows deeper with each passing year! It's an exciting time to live here. I founded Toronto Bicycle Tours for those who want a fantastic, fun time while gaining a deeper appreciation for Toronto's people, culture, history and food. For over 6 years my company has been the #1 ranked outdoor activity in Toronto. Come see the city through the eyes of a local on a leisurely ride on and off the beaten path. You'll ride with me or with Genny, Claire, Meandra, Ekow or Rob.

I had a great morning ride out onto the Islands with Clair! A cold and soon to be wet March morning meant i was the only rider however Clair's energy, knowledge and fun nature meant this was a warm and interesting place to be! The bikes where very good, the extra warm clothing and poncho's a great benefit for these conditions however it was Clair with her story telling of the island/ community and general personality that stole the day. Well worth it!!

My host name was Clare, it was Dec 26th that we met so I was her only guest. She was very welcoming and showcased extensive knowledge of Toronto and Toronto island history. She also gave very accurate instructions on how to follow her on a city bike ride. Enjoyed it a lot and would definitely do it again next time I’m in Toronto!

Claire is our guide and she is very easy-going and friendly. The island is a hiddle gem of Toronto and tourists who have some spare time should definitely go check out the island on bikes! There is an island community that has been there for many years and is fighting for their rights to stay. It is so cool to see how functional the community is and how every component and every street of the island has a name. Claire knows her way around and is a very good storyteller. We signed up for a particularly cold (cold for non-Torontonians) day and Claire is so thoughtful she brought enough hand and feet warmers for us. To be mindful of: getting to the meeting spot on time will give you or your group ample time to prepare and catch the ferry on time. And the ferry ride with the island locals is really fun too!

This was such a fun experience! We had a great tour of the Toronto islands. It was particularly chilly the day we went but the tour guide was fantastic and was super accommodating with extra gloves, ponchos, and heat packs. We felt super safe and comfortable biking through the city to the ferry. The ferry ride to the islands was a neat experience and we really enjoyed learning more about the island culture while we biked around, saw the houses, and learned about the history there. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in a unique tour beyond the hustle and bustle of Toronto.
