We will share a course-meal ranging from modern to traditional Japanese food across 4-6 food stands and restaurants. I have chosen these vendors to talk about quality food and rich food culture that represent Kyoto. Throughout the evening, we will try many kinds of foods different from other Japanese cities offer with other foodies!

I am a regional manager of Ninja Food Tours, a food tour company based in Kyoto and Osaka. I work with local restaurant owners and staff on a daily basis. I have lived in Australia studying to be a professional interpreter and came back to Japan to pursue my passion to introduce local food and share my stories. Either myself, Yuta, or Yuma will organize this experience.

I will first take you to a local market, Nishiki Market to show you different kinds of ingredients and cooking techniques, and we will taste a couple of appetizers along the way in the market. After that we will go to food stands and restaurants to actually eat what we see in the market!

Shion was wonderful in making me feel welcome in Kyoto and we had a great time visiting a many different restaurants. As a Kyoto local, Shion also had a lot of personal stories and knowledge of the local areas which added significantly to the experience!

A great way to experience the food culture of Kyoto! I tried many foods I would have never otherwise ordered and really enjoyed the different restaurants we visited. Moe was a great guide and helped to get the group comfortable.

We went to a lot interesting places that gave us a huge variety of Japanese food that we would never have tried otherwise. Highly recommend doing this to experience authentic Japanese food.

Moe accommodated a last minute request for food tour and I couldn’t have been happier. I was lucky enough to be the only person in this tour and so she personalized the experience for me. She was knowledgeable about the food she was presenting and was able to answer all of my foodie questions without a beat. The places she took me to felt like little gems that other tourists would never find. The staff at each of them was friendly and went above and beyond to ensure my happiness. I would definitely book with Moe again when I’m back in Kyoto, if only to spend time with a new friend.
