Au programme

Beyond the royal and wealthy area of St. Petersburg we find "Petersburg of Fyodor Dostoevsky" - old vast quartiers a bit away from the palaces, full of everyday life and hidden gems.

This is a special look at the city, a walking tour around quiet streets, cozy alleys and river banks that still preserve the spirit of our beloved 19th century. Dostoevsky was living here, as also the characters of his books. "Crime and Punishment", "The Idiot", "White Nights" and others - the stories are inseparably connected with the city. The house, the courtyard, the bridge - it all exists, let's see it!

Which streets did Rodion Raskolnikov take to kill the old lady moneylander? Where did she live?
What are the neighborhoods of ordinary people whose lives, griefs and love are described by Dostoevsky?
Where and why was Dostoevsky almost executed in his youth?

It's nice to do a walk tour with Alexander again! This is an unusual tour if you're a fan of Dostoyevsky. Instead of the normal way of going to museum, Alexander will take you along the routes that those characters once walked in Dostoyevsky's books, especially in Crime and Punishment. By doing so, you will have a brand new perspective of the book and build links between the city's history and present in your own mind. Highly recommended!

This was, hands down, the best tour I have ever taken. Kira was so unbelievably knowledgable about both the works of Dostoevsky, but also the history of the city of Saint Petersburg, meaning that every single block there was a story that transported through time, balancing our walk between fiction and history. He was friendly and warm, an absolute expert on the subjects, and was even able to tell us where he's verified information using archives. I cannot stress this enough, BEST TOUR EVER. I highly, highly recommend this experience, its a must-do for St Petersburg!

I spent a truly fascinating afternoon with Alex and learned an enormous amount about the city of St P, the author and characters of the writings of Dostoevsky. We walked and talked the entire 3 hour tour, with Alex pointing out specific buildings, architecture, the lay-out of streets, markets, hidden alleyways and bridges, all the time helping me, in my mind's eye, to create an earlier version of St Petersburg to align with the times and writing of the books by Dostoevsky. It was a time of smaller scale buildings, muddied streets, crowded neighbourhoods and social classes which determined lives and opportunities. Alex really knew his subject, and shared his passion and knowledge in a warm good humour and friendly demeanour. It was like spending a wonderful afternoon with a very learned and close friend, with great dialogue, and discussions across huge range of subjects, but always pulling back to the era of Dostoevsky and his works. It was fabulous. Thank you so much Alex! You were a wonderful host and truly made the history of St P come alive for me! The whole experience was first class! Alex really knew his stuff, and the communication of history both personal and professional. Alex is a perfect gentleman, intelligent and great communicator, making him a superb guide! Caroline X

Finding the places in which Dostoyevski's works are set is really meaningful to me. Alexei told us a lot of stories about the writer.(one of which is that the writer had got punched in his face for no reason by a drunkard.) And he cared about the trip route:) He strikes me to be very erudite.
