Au programme

Salt Lake City has a rich and diverse heritage from the Native Americans who lived here before the pioneers to the religious refugees who built settled the territory to immigrant populations that came to labor on the railroad and in the mines. You'll learn during this experience that Salt Lake is more than Mormons. This tour explores this history as well as public art of Salt Lake City. We'll visit four historic immigrant neighborhoods including Salt Lake's historic Chinatown, Little Italy, and Japantown.

Along the way, I'll share stories and show you historic photographs to provide context. On this walking tour, we'll take a glimpse into the past to explore Salt Lake's multi-cultural heritage as well as its pioneering history. We'll stop at a traditional German bakery for a snack. Along the way, we'll see some fantastic public art and architecture including sculptures, murals, and historic buildings.

I hope the stories and places we visit will inspire you as you glimpse into the diversity that is Utah.

Many years ago, as a runner for a Salt Lake City law firm, I delivered documents all over downtown. Once while out on a delivery, I found a small sign about Plum Alley, Salt Lake's historic Chinatown. I wanted to know more. Most people I spoke to who grew up and lived in Salt Lake their whole lives were unfamiliar with it too. I can only imagine what my ancestors thought as they watched a dragon snake its way up the street to celebrate Chinese New Year while the Salt Lake Temple was still under construction. Since then, I've learned even more about this amazing history including stories of the people and communities that I want to share to honor all those who helped make this city what it is today.

City sidewalks and side streets are our trail from place to place. We'll stand in the shadows of historic monuments and architecture while following the path of a historic printing press. Colorful murals line the route along with other public art installations.

We loved the sites, tastes, and hands on art experiences Kevin provided on our recent trip to Salt Lake City. The city has a rich history with many immigrants that left their mark making this such a cultural rich place to visit. I think Brigham Young spoke for all that followed.... "This is the place".

Kevin was a walking encyclopedia of Utah history, culture and art as well as being well versed in present day Utah. The tour was well paced and relaxed. We learned a lot from Kevin and would highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommend this tour with Kevin. It explored locations and history that aren’t included in most tours of Salt Lake City so it was unique and interesting. Kevin is a wealth of information and a natural tour guide. You won’t be disappointed!

Our walking tour with Kevin in SLC was perfect! A little history, a little art, a little Mormon history…and plenty of opportunities for questions and interaction. Walking tours bring cities to life in a way you may not achieve via solo efforts. Fabulous value for money, I highly recommend Kevin. Book it!
