Sailing Chesapeake Bay With Homegrown Captain-and seafood!

I welcome up to six guests on my classic yacht in the maritime neighborhood of Annapolis, known as Eastport. We meet at the boat and after stowing your gear and a brief safety demonstration, we'll motor out into the mouth of Severn River near the open Bay. You'll enjoy my stories and tales of the Bay, peppered with my wit and dry (or is it wet?) sense of humor. Most guests prefer to raise sail quickly and get out on the Bay. Other times we may go under motor to the main harbor or cruise up the Severn Scenic River. Guests can sit back and relax, or take the wheel and raise sails as I point out and interpret items of interest. We may see the busy boating activity of City Dock, the Naval Academy or we might cruise by iconic Thomas Point Lighthouse, the Chesapeake Bay Bridges or go alongside massive cargo ships at anchor. We sail back as the sun sinks over the horizon and dock at dusk. ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS--join us as we watch the yacht races vying for first place with their colorful, billowing spinnakers !! Enjoy outdoor dining at the many nearby restaurants.

My favorite childhood memories are of boating around Annapolis in the 1960's and 70' s as my family were members of a old, rustic, communal, waterfront club. I remain devoted to preserving, sharing and writing about our local history and environment. Although I've sailed from Maine to Florida, the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Sea of Cortez, Canada and Gulf of Mexico, the Chesapeake is my home. Sailing on and sharing the Bay with you on the boat I personally restored is a labor of love--a lifetime of love on the Chesapeake. As a native, journalist and lifelong environmental activist and professional (as well as sailor...) I welcome you aboard for a truly memorable evening on the Bay.

Come see why Annapolis is known as The Sailing Capital of America and why Chesapeake Bay is known as the Land of Pleasant Living. Enjoy the exciting maritime neighborhood of Eastport. The sail with Paul was awesome! The dock was flooded so he had to be a bit creative to get us on the boat. He was very accommodating— moved to a less-flooded dock and had rubber boots for us to use to get to the boat. He also let each of us try our hand at the wheel and was very knowledgeable about sailing and the area.

Captain was professional and knowledgeable. His concern about the weather and condition of the water made us feel that it wasn't just a job he was doing but a passion for sailing. He kept us informed of the conditions on the water prior to sailing. We really enjoyed the trip and his sense of humor, if we get back to east coast we would contact him again.😊 Happy Sailing⛵

This was a great experience. We had not been on a sailboat before, and Paul and his mate were very knowledgeable and capable sailers who were fun to be with. We would do this again. Steve & Loralee

My boyfriend and I had a great time aboard the “Non Sea Quitter”. The captain and his first mate were both hospitable and entertaining. I have to say Paul is very amusing. He has a very dry sense of humor that kept us entertained for the entire cruise. We were able to get up close to the Yacht Races which were very exciting and fast moving. We witnessed the most amazing sunset and have so many photos of this entire adventure that we will long cherish. I only wish we would have time to do it again before we have to return home.

We were unlucky with our trip. First we had to shift the time because Paul said thunderstorms were forecast (which of course never materialized - forecasts are not infallible after all). And when we did go, it was very hot and humid, there wasn't much wind and we had to motor back. As a result our kids (1, 2 and 4 years old) were cranky and miserable, which I'm sure was a stress on Paul, and Nancy, his friend. I wonder whether I should've trusted my instincts and not taken the kids sailing given they are so very young but Paul has had young families on board before and said they've been absolutely fine. Nancy, was informative about the local wildlife and made the effort to make it interesting for our kids, which we really appreciated. Paul also tried to rally our children by bringing out bubbles and letting them stand in the hatch. I sensed that the crying was really wearing him down because he told them a few times to be quiet, "no crying on this boat" etc, which made me feel uncomfortable since they are so young and can't really help it. I also found a joke (?) about women drivers being awful a bit gauche, not to mention the tone he used with Nancy when teaching her to sail a little harsh at times. That said, we felt that both Paul and Nancy tried very hard to be great hosts. For example, Paul shared some cucumbers he had grown with our family. I just think the heat, humidity and lack of wind meant that the experience was a little stressful (because of the kids' discomfort), putting us all on edge and lackluster.

Pail was experienced and knowledgeable about what he was doing. He was very conscious about safety and found time to be friendly and involved with his passengers. We had a most wonderful time.
