Au programme

You'll learn about the origins of pesto and the reason for each ingredient and why it's important to add the ingredients in a specific order. I'll also teach you how to make "trofie" the typical pasta eaten with pesto in the Tigullio area of Liguria. Then we'll get right down to business, pounding the ingredients with a pestle and mortar made from beautiful, cool and smooth Carrara marble. Making pesto is relaxing and fun and the end result is absolutely delicious. It's a great way of getting back in touch with the origins of the food we eat and a fantastic introduction to the unique food culture in Liguria!
Making pesto and trofie involves no cooking so it's great for families and children.
Other things to note
For anyone who does not have a car, there is a regular bus service to Borzonasca.

I'm 1/2 English, 1/2 Italian and one of my favourite foods is Genoese pesto. I've been pounding pesto since learning how to make it in the Cinque Terre over 30 years ago, and I love the idea of sharing my experience and passion for pesto with other people in my spacious and airy kitchen in Borzonasca. We had a really lovely time with Angela and her cats:) Producing pesto is such a hard and frustrating job (the arms hurt and the basilic leaves just wouldn't get smaller) but totally worth it! It's so delicious and we'll never look at it the same now.

This is an experience I will talk about for a long time. Angela is a joy to be around and a genuinely Kind host. Our afternoon together was such a wonderful experience, it was almost hard to say goodbye. We learned so much from this experience that we feel we could have never gotten anywhere else. We both left feeling inspired to go on to make more of our foods from scratch. We had a bit of a trek into the mountains to get there as we were staying in Genoa and it was worth every minute of travel to get there. Plus, the town is gorgeous. Thank you again, Angela.
