Ce que vous allez faire
Tick Table Mountain's Devil's Peak off your Cape Town bucket list. We hike up Devil's Peak's Minor Peak via the most exhilarating, off the beaten track route, Cape Town's best kept secret, away from any crowds. In fact, consider yourself lucky (or unlucky) if we actually encounter any other people. The route involves a challenging, yet rewarding hike, slog and scramble up via some sensational single-track, ridge-lines and rock scrambles with the most amazing views and scenery. Devil's Peak trumps Table Mountain's main summit with both fauna and flora because of its lack of people and traffic, and we may spot a wild mountain goat or 2 if we're lucky. We also visit some of the ruin's built in the late 18th century during the conflict between Dutch and British occupiers of the Cape. As we summit it's minor peak, we revel in what we've accomplished as we enjoy the moment with some pictures and snacks, and just soak it all up. We then descend via a circular route on back down to the parking. This hike ticks all the boxes in terms of diversity and variety of terrain, vegetation and even climate. A proper challenging hike that does not take the whole day is guaranteed to exhilarate and awaken your senses.

Standing just over 1000m above sea level, Devil's Peak is just a few meters lower than the highest point in Cape Town, Maclears Beacon, yet offers full 360 degree panoramic views of Cape Town. For every 50 people on Table Mountain, Devil's Peak has 1, making the experience much more tranquil. We'll be lucky if we run into other hikers during our ascent. We start and end from the Rhodes Memorial Monument.
