Au programme

We will meet next to the mexican flag, very near from entrance, to pass the checkpoint together. Already in front of the "umbrella" monument we'll know each other and we'll know details about this amazing museum and the meaning of this monument. Later, in front of an incredible painting we will discover the location in time and space of the most important cultures of Ancient Mexico. We usually visit the three of the most impressive and magical cultures of my country in chronological order: Teotihuacán, Mayas and Aztecs. At this moment, our route will be focused on exploring several aspects of life and death in the ancient mexico: symbolic aspects, mythology, rituals and their meaning, funerary practices and life after death among other mysterious themes. Of course, this route will be dotted with anecdotes and comments from my particular vision and experience where the archaeology and the anthropology intertwine. Welcome everyone who wants to live in the most important museum in Mexico and Latin America from the hand of an experienced archeologist!

Like a professional, with 22 years of experience like anthropologist and archaeologist, I’ve worked in four different cultural areas of México: Maya, Purepecha, Totonaca and Mexica. I currently work as a freelance researcher collaborating with private initiatives, institutions and universities in projects, I'm founder and CEO an international association focused on mexican cultural heritage (AIPPCMAC) and I'm teaching archaeology to undergraduate students in autonomous Mexico State University. In 2012,
I was awarded a national prize in archaeological research for using remote sensing in El Tajín, Veracruz. As a person, I'm completely passionate about cultural heritage but at the same time relaxed, joking and who enjoys people a lot. Search over me on the internet!

This was the one of the highlights of my vacation to Mexico City. This has to be one of the best museums in the world. There are amazing artifacts at the Museum of Anthropology, and the perfect person to guide you through them is Guadalupe. She is professional, fun, and extremely knowledgeable about the cultures of the region.

Guadalupe was excellent, her passion and knowledge is outstanding and we are glad to have booked this tour with her as the museum is so big is easy to miss information, she was friendly and explained everything in a way that was engaging. I would definitely recommend anyone looking to go see the museum for the first time or returning as they are always new things to learn.

Guadalupe provided stories and details that we would not have known by ourselves. She made the museum tour exciting and very informational! This is a great tour for anyone but especially for Mexican-Americans like us who learned so much more about our cultura. Gracias, Guadalupe!

Guadalupe’s “Mexico Unearthed” tour of the Anthropology Museum was quite extraordinary. I cannot imagine trying to navigate this museum without an expert like Guadalupe leading the way. She is a thoroughly knowledgeable and attentive educator. She helped bring the exhibits to life and extra story and dimension. I give my highest recommendation.

I've already been to the Anthropology Museum on a short visit two years ago. I took the free one hour tour in English and then looked at other exhibits for two hours. It's a large museum so I knew I would return and I knew I would hire a guide because a guide provides much more information and context. What a treat to see the museum with Guadalupe whose breadth of knowledge on the subjects of the indigenous people and cultures of Mexico is incredible. Her information delivery style was personal and entertaining. When we told her we had just been in Oaxaca, she modified the tour to include some more information on the indigenous culture there. I highly recommend Guadalupe's tour for either a first or return visit to the Anthropology Museum. Muchas Gracias Guadalupe!

We signed up for Guadalupe's group tour (max 8) of The Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. We were the only ones on the tour, so we ultimately had a private tour, which was great. Guadalupe was charming, knowledgable, intelligent, warm, witty; I could go on. She's an expert in the field and imparted information in a fascinating and approachable manner. The museum is large and the captions are in Spanish. Without her we'd have looked at beautiful displays without much background to realize their history. It was a fantastic experience and I'd wholeheartedly recommend that you take Guadalupe's tour! And a side note, she taught me a new Spanish expression: chingonsisimo (super cool). Guadalupe is chingonsisimo!
