Au programme

In this experience, we'll do 5 fun activities designed for K-culture lovers. You won't believe how quickly the time will fly by. Our first stop will be a place to rent a traditional Korean outfit called a Hanbok—you will become half-Korean just by wearing it. Then we'll head to a traditional house known as a Hanok. Once there, we can appreciate the calm and beauty of the house, and understand how Korean people used to live. It’s really cool to drink a cup of Korean tea and chill in the garden. Then we'll start a calligraphy class. I'll introduce Hangeul—Korean lettering—and its history. You'll learn how to write your name in Korean. You'll be amazed by how simple and scientific it is. After that, you'll use a brush-and-ink pen to make a personal bookmark using your own calligraphy. Then we'll check your knowledge of Korea with a quiz—it’s a good way to learn new things about Korea and have fun at the same time. We'll play the traditional board game called Yut-nori. You'll need some luck and strategy to win the game, because it’s not over until it’s really over. You’ll want to play it whole day.

Hi, I'm Moon Young and I'm a lifetime wanderlust. I love experiencing new places as well as introducing this lovely country, Korea, to you. I am a qualified Korean teacher with a 1st degree certificate, and I've taught the language to foreign students for a long time. I’ve explored 25 countries until now and want to do a lot more in the future. I believe the most memorable things about traveling to a new place are special experiences and the people you meet there. I am sure you will make unforgettable memories with my K-culture experience at a Hanok along with good friends.

Le lieu

We'll meet at An-guk Subway Station, then take an easy stroll to a nearby Hanok where the experience will take place. It's located in the Bukchon area, a famous Hanok village. It's close to main tourist attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Insa-dong neighborhood. There are many museums, traditional restaurants, and coffee shops in the area. It's an iconic place for you to feel the genuine Korea.

It was a wonderful meeting! 1. Moonyoung helped me choose a hanbok and together we walked along the colorful streets of Seoul. She took a lot of photos. Offered different places and photos. And so she never refused to photograph as I want. It was really a very pleasant, leisurely walk. 2. In the host studio, we drank tea, warmed up and chatted about different things in Korea. After that, Moonyoung told me some interesting things about the history of Korea. It was very interesting, because she used very simple English for understanding, spoke slowly and clearly. 3. Moonyoung told me about the structure of the Korean alphabet. It was really interesting because she used funny and interesting explanations for the elements of the alphabet and sounds. I became very interested in Korean. After class with her, I want to learn this language, but it is still difficult ... XD 4. I tried to write my name. Moonyoung prepared special bookmarks with drawings (very cute) and other educational materials. She suggested many styles and options for writing, sentenced special samples and suggested exactly how I can change my letter. After that I made a wonderful bookmark with my own hands! Wow! 5. We played a traditional Korean game. Moonyoung is very good at this ~ It was a lot of fun. She gave me such a game, so I can play with friends! :) Moonyoung is a wonderful person. Very kind and helpful. She was also very hospitable, treated to delicious tea and Korean snacks. Special thanks for the leisurelyness of what is happening. I felt very comfortable, no one was rushing me, although sometimes I needed time to pick up words or write my name in Korean. And so I want to separately thank her for her responsiveness! In fact, I asked a lot of things about Korea and Korean traditions. We talked a lot about Korean food, attractions, life and activities of Koreans. It was not quite what she was preparing for this meeting, but still didn't rush, didn't interrupt me, told me many interesting things, was interested about my country ... It was a really interesting experience!

My sister, cousin, and I booked this experience on the first day of the 2020 New Year, and our first day in South Korea (our first time coming to this country.) It was well worth it and just an overall excellent way to start off our trip. I basically spent my New Years Eve (California time zone lol) playing Yut Nori and winning a lot! The hanboks were excellent quality and I was a bit nervous that it wouldn't fit me because I'm 5'7 and overweight, but it fit nicely and it was so pretty. Also, we showed our hanbok pictures to other locals during our trip and they said that Moonyoung's hanboks looked more authentic and detailed versus some common hanbok rentals. Not only is Moonyoung's package reasonable, but excellent quality through and through. This experience can be booked with an intimately sized group to even a classroom. Moonyoung is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and hospitable, just a wonderful individual. Her passion came through her teaching experience and I sincerely appreciate her history and Hangul lessons. I highly recomment this experience. 새해 복 많이 받으세요 <3

Moonyoung was a great host! I signed up for this experience for my first full day in Korea and graciously was hosted by Moonyoung on New Years Day. Though she was having some technical difficulties, she was still able to teach our Hangul lesson like a pro and provide plenty of historical context of the history of the language. Since we had arrived in Korea the night before and were staying on the other side of Seoul, we hadn’t had lunch before the lesson so Moonyoung also assisted in helping us order gimbap from a restaurant close to the station where we met up (which was a total life saver for us!). We had tons of fun trying on traditional hanboks and having a unique experience to learn about Korean history and language. This was a great value since most places charge at least $20+ just for the hanbok rental. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something unique and fun to do in Seoul early on in their travels.

This was the best!! I highly recommend it for everyone! You get a free photoshoot in your hanbok in addition to everything else! Moonyoung was adorable and so knowledgeable and friendly. She was easy to communicate with from the moment I contacted her. We had the most delicious citron tea and little sweets. The class was interesting and fun. The game was exciting. We chose this tour for its variety and it didn't disappoint. A one stop shop for Korean culture experience. I'm so happy Moonyoung has this tour!! Gamsa hamnida!

During my 1 week travel in Seoul, I consider this experience with Moonyoung the most special one, and one that I’ll remember forever. I walked away with some real knowledge about Korean language and history, something I never learned before in my life, I know it’ll stick with me forever! Even though I was the only guest booking the time slot, our interaction was natural and fun, I felt lucky to have the private 1 on 1 experience and did not feel bored at all! Thank you Moonyoung for bring me this awesome experience!
