Ce que vous allez faire
Montevideo is famous for its many street markets. Every Sunday, in the district of Cordón, the Tristán Narvaja Street Market takes place and it is one of the most typical outings in the city. You can't imagine what you can find there! There are lots of decorative furniture, vintage watches, coins, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, glassware, lighting, prints, maps, jewellery and much more! We will start our tour with an exclusive mate tasting at a cosy restaurant were I will explain you how you prepare it. Mate will be paired with some bizcochos (Uruguayan croissants). This typical Uruguayan drink which is made by infusing “yerba mate” (dehydrated and shredded leaves of the Illex Paraguyensis shrub) and it is one of the most emblematic and common traditions of Uruguayan society. Anybody who has ever seen Uruguayans outside of the country will have noticed that they were not without their thermos and mate, inseparable companions no matter the time of year. After we will walk around Tristan Narvaja and I will take you to the best stores there and If you have any special interest like vinyls, antiquities, vintage clothing or a special book, we will try to find that special treasures.
Ce qui est inclus
My name is Maria, I am a native "Montevideana" and I am in love with my city. I will be more than happy to show you arround and answer all your questions about this South American pearl. Having worked more than 7 years in an incoming tourism agency , selling and organizing travel itineraries throughout South America to European and U.S. American clients, I have reached the conclusion that I want to go an alternative path and offer more "authentic" and less "touristy" experiences to travelers coming to Uruguay. Getting to know a country is learning about its culture, its customs and of course its important landmarks, but not only the "classic" sights. I love vintage and I preatty much know every thrift shop in town. I am also a passionate cross stitch embroidered and also the #1 fan of milanesa (greatest uruguayan dish).
