Au programme

We meet up in old town Reykjavik by Ingólfur Square, at the two stone pillars to start our traditional Icelandic Food Adventure.
Our first stop is an excellent Gastropub, where we will sample a small appetizer: Smoked puffin with crowberry liqueur sauce. Then we stroll down Austurstræti (East street) towards the oldest restaurant in Reykjavik, which will serve us Iceland in a bowl, the very traditional Icelandic sheep soup. From there, we will visit the fast-food institution in Iceland. The original hot dog stand where we will feast on the sheep hot dog that Icelanders are becoming famous for. Our next stop is the quirky and fun Seabaron down by the old Reykjavik harbor. That's where we sample the Icelandic lobster soup, a small piece of Minke whale steak and if you dare: a small piece of fermented shark. On we walk, and this time we stop to sample some fresh Icelandic cod, fish, and chips style. Our last but not least stop is for a yummy Skyr dessert and an Icelandic drink of choice.

If a group makes a private reservation, the experience can be provided in Spanish, French, or German.

Hi, my name is Valur and together with my expert local guides, we do the walking tours of Your Friend in Reykjavik. We know how to entertain as well as educate like hundreds of 5-star reviews can confirm. We've got a passion for our country, it's history, food, beer, and mythology and we try to make sure some of the love we have for Iceland rubs off onto our friends from around the world.
You are also in safe hands with us as we are official tour guides and members of the Icelandic Tourist Guide Association which is granted only to those who have passed a comprehensive one-year training program, approved by the Icelandic Ministry of Education.

We where guided around with Bardi, who speaks excellent english and is a fantastic tour guide. There was more than enough food so its value for money. Bardi told us about the history of Reykjavik as well as current events. I would recommend this tour and please, try the shark and brennivin you wont regret it.

This was a wonderful food tour which provided a great introduction to Icelandic food, and I really liked the places we went to and the food we tried. Absolutely recommended!

I really enjoyed this tour. My father was very skeptical before embarking on this tour (he has never used air bnb, and has never done a good tour), and he really enjoyed the tour at the end! Awesome amount of food and information. Great overview of the city and culture. Would definitely do it again. Worth the price to me.

The representative snaedis was extremely helpful and friendly. She was very polite with everything and was more than happy to teach us! The food was awesome, and portions from the different vendors were appropriate for the amount that you would get for the entire trip. Highly recommend it, especially since Snaedis was genuine and interesting and gave us a great background of Iceland and how the dishes were related to its history.

This tour is awesome. The knowledge of the guide was great, and since we ended up getting our tour basically private we got to talk alot about Iceland and Snædis personal experience. The food was awesome and not just on the tour, we got a list of other restaurants to try and what to get there! I ended up going to a few after. Thanks again your friend in Reykjavik and snædis!

Our guide Bardi was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable, easy to connect with and full interesting stories about Icelandic culture. The tour was great value for money, we ate a lot! Also it was very special to get a locals knowledge on places to go that we would never have discovered on our own. Highly recommend this to anyone interested in getting an inside perspective on local food, culture and history.
