The classes offer the unique experience of learning in a working restaurant kitchen, we will meet at a designated point in Chinatown, here we will go through spices, best places to shop for them, and what to look for when choosing your spices, while we also appreciate the unique beauty of the neighborhood, we work with seasonal ingredients so the menu of the day will be according to what's on season and available in NYC that weekend, dietary restrictions? please let us know when you book the class, so we can accommodate your needs, then we will walk back to the restaurant and talk about what we previously saw, some useful tips that you can apply in your everyday life when cooking, (like how to chop an onion) the special dish that we are cooking that day, respond any additional questions that you might have and other fun things that might come up! Wine and beer will flow and you will have what you need to cook your meal and enjoy a fun time, while also learning in this hands on class! once our three course meal is ready we will eat in our communal table and enjoy the view of some classic west village.
Hi! I'm Abigail Hitchcock Chef and Owner of Abigail's Kitchen (former Camaje) a restaurant open for 22 years in the Greenwich Village, Manhattan, back in 2000 I began a small cooking school, moved by my passion about food and my former days in Peter Kump's New York Cooking School (now The Institute of Culinary Education) with experience working at The Tea Box at Takashimaya in NYC, Vong in London, the BBC'S Vegetarian Good Food Magazine, Martha Stewart Living television and as a private Chef running my own catering company, I'll show you tips and tricks about cooking and food shopping that you can apply to your everyday life. Fun fact: I was a contestant on Food Network's Chopped! as well as two times judge on Beat Bobby Flay! I'm also a certified Sommelier.

We will provide all the equipment you need for the cooking class
We will send out the meeting point in Chinatown days before the event, after doing our spices shopping and enjoying some of the Chinatown neighborhood uniqueness, we will walk to our cozy restaurant in the Greenwich Village, where we love to cook with seasonal ingredients from local farmers, there, we will create our feast and enjoy some wine and a good time.
