Ce que vous allez faire

I want you to have as much fun as possible learning the basics of jetskiing, but I also want to make sure you are safe. That's why we start with safety briefing. It'll be fun, but very informative and hopefully you will find it reassuring. We will explain in easy to understand english OUR safety management plan, Australia's boating rules and our emergency procedures. It's very similar to the safety briefing you might receive at the beginning of each flight on an aircraft, except that I am not as good looking nor as well dressed as most aircraft cabin crew. Sorry! The briefing is face to face, (not a video) and that means there's plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions, before you complete a fairly simple multiple choice questionaire, to make sure I've remembered to tell you everything you need to know. You'll be fitted with a life jacket, and an intercom headset, your gear will be securely stored, and we will head onto the beach for a briefing on how the jetskis work - how to turn it on, how to turn it off, how to turn corners and how to speed up and slow down. We will then head out on to the water, slowly at first, then a few manoeuvres before we gather speed as your confidence grows. When you are feeling more comfortable, we will start to "explore the agility" of the machines, with high speed figures, hot laps and fishtails... and I'll take lots of photos to share.

Ken

I'm the owner, chief guide and instructor for Caloundra Jetski - a family business providing personalised small group tours of wildlife, nature and ancient volcanos aboard clean green fun machines. We operate the Pumicestone Passage Marine Park, a Ramsar listed waterway that is home to turtles, dolphins, dugongs and an extraordinary array of migratory and wading birds. As a qualified marine instructor, I'll teach you how to ride a jetski. I may well be the only instructor in the world using intercom between jetskis. I'll be on my jetski, and you will be on yours, but through the intercom, you'll be getting clear instructions from me on how to handle these awesome machines. And don't worry about being part of a big group - I'll only ever take four skis in any one lesson.

We start on beautiful Bulcock Beach, where we will take you through all the preliminaries and then head out on Pumicestone Passage, sweeping along the navigation channel between Bribie Island and the mainland. We'll pass Golden Beach, Pelican Waters and Bells Creek. In the freestyle area, we will explore the agility of our machines with hot laps, and fishtails. Plenty of pics to show the world your adventurous streak. The return trip is fast!
