Au programme

Forget about boring history tours, the best way to learn about a city is through the modern art of its people. Join me on an alternative adventure that will open your eyes and change the way you look at Mongolia’s capital city.

We’ll start the tour with a quick coffee at one of my favorite coffee shops in the city before heading off for the city’s most popular bridge for street artists to leave their mark. All along the way I’ll tell you about the city and answer any questions you might have about Mongolia’s fascinating capital.

After our first stop and your first glimpse into Mongolia’s street art scene, we’ll jump in a car and head off to see more of the city’s most beautiful murals. Ulaanbaatar’s street artists are doing some incredible things around the city, creating larger than life murals that not only pay homage and respect to Mongolian culture, but murals that also really give you a sense of place.

All along the tour I’ll help you snap photos of each piece – I love seeing travelers capture (and pose with!) these incredible works of art and share them with their friends and family around the world.

Since this tour is only 2.5 hours, it’s a great way to jump right into Mongolian life and experience a side of the country that you might have never expected to find.

If you'd like to book this tour on a different day (other than Mondays or Wednesdays), just let me know!

Hello! I’m Eddie! I’m a college student here in Ulaanbaatar where I’m majoring in International Business. I work as a tour guide where I host tours around the city for travelers from all around the world. I love meeting new people and showing off a side of Ulaanbaatar you might never have expected to find. I was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar and I’m happy to share anything that I can with you about my city.

Le lieu

As street art is an ever changing, living and breathing art, the specific points on this tour are always changing. We will make at least three stops at different points around the city, one of which is the neighborhood I grew up in, away from the crowds of tourists.

I had such a great time with Eddie on his tour. He is such an impressive and smart young man, and his enthusiasm for street art and for UB in general is contagious. As we walked and took in the murals, I also had the chance to learn more about what it’s like to live in the city and be a college student here, from good local music to Eddie’s favorite coffee shops to his family experiences. I also loved that we walked a ton—there is nothing like seeing a city on foot, and I got a sense of how the neighborhoods fit together, with Eddie’s help. As for the art itself, the murals are great. There are not a lot of them, but the pieces are interesting and meaningful, and Eddie explained both the pop-cultural history of the street art crews and the cultural history behind some of what they are painting. We had a really fun morning, and I felt like I made a friend. I would absolutely take another tour with Eddie if I’m back in UB.

This tour was the first thing I did when I arrived in UB. Eddie made me feel welcome in an unknown city. He is very knowledgeable, clever, and has a great sense of humor. The art was great too! It’s an interesting way to see a city and I recommend it if you’re looking for something different. He’s fluent in English too!

I spent this morning on the tour with Eddie. He was incredible feeling and enthusiastic as soon as I arrived. He has an incredible knowledge of the street art movement in Ulanbaataar and could explain the history and detail of each piece. It was interesting and fantastic. I also got the opportunity to listen to Eddie talk about the city, the community of UB as well as the history of UB and Mongolia. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, the art and Eddie made it special.

I never knew there was a street art scene in Mongolia. This was an experience that is one of a kind and not available anywhere else. Eddie knew about the history of the artists as well as the background on the art pieces. It is a must join experience for people who enjoy art.
