An airy 3m x 3m (approx) room at the back of the house overlooking a spacious garden. Single bed with a trundle-bed beneath to make up a twin room if requested. Blackout blind. Study desk. Cupboard hanging space, Corby trouser press. Wi-fi. No TV available.
Full use of the kitchen facilities with dry-food, fridge and freezer storage available.

Le logement
Built in the late 1950s on the former tennis court of the adjacent house, the house has a spacious garden you are welcome to use; very pleasant on a sunny day! Sit by the pond and enjoy the relaxing sound of falling water as it tumbles over the weir (it's not THAT big... but it is a weir!).
If you enjoy playing the piano, then I'm sure there will be opportunity to play on my Bechstein upright whilst no one is listening! (Ah... assuming the Piano Room has no guests staying in it of course!)
I have a glass dome in the garden, which is also listed if you are up for somewhere really special. (Check out "Seclusion in the Dome")

Accès des voyageurs
I have a lodger, and usually, a few other guests, so we'll all be sharing the recently refurbished bathroom.
If you wish to cook a meal, so long as there is no evidence left that you have done so ;-) you are welcome to use the kitchen. And if the 'piano room' is available, you're welcome to play the piano if no one is listening!

Autres remarques
If you're a smoker (tobacco based products only please!), there is provision outside for your indulgence and please dispose of your 'left-overs' in the brown, garden-waste-recycling bin.

I have 2 rooms advertised on Airbnb. But on occasions I have regular guests who stay over in the living room. They are professionals who are just staying over to sleep and so generally don't use the kitchen. And as mentioned above, I have a lodger.

Hatfield, Royaume-Uni

Roe Green Lane has one side of the street dating back to the first decade of the 1900s. On the other side of the street, it is housing stock built in the 60s and 70s. As the road leads to nowhere, it is a very quiet area, despite being about 2 minutes drive from the A1(M) and 5 minutes walk to Asda and Aldi.
Luton Airport is about 25 minutes drive away, Stansted Airport is about 40 minutes and Heathrow airport is about a 50 minutes drive (on a clear M25 motorway!!).
I see Hatfield as 4 distinct areas; Old Hatfield with the historic Jacobian Hatfield House (well worth a visit in the summer months when it is open to the public), then the 1900s Hatfield, the post WW2 Hatfield, hurriedly built to house bombed-out Londoners, and then the ever-expanding, highly successful Hatfield University which has a tide of some 30,000 students every term.
Probably the most concentrated collection of eating places is in the Galleria which is 6 minutes walk from my front door.

I love making things happen, especially if it's offbeat and fun. And there is a sense of 'theatre' about that statement having spend most of my career formerly in scenic prop-making for West End London shows (Phantom of the Opera being the most famous show I worked on) and latterly in developing memorable fun team building experiences for the Corporate Event industry. So creativity is very important to me. Connecting people is also a passion as you never know what spark might happen as a result. So to that end, I really enjoy entertaining, getting to understand what excites people and seeing how that passion can be harnessed. When it works, that's cause for celebration. I am a huge fan of Beethoven's piano sonatas and relentlessly try to perfect a couple of them on my piano, but I think it must be very tedious for a regular listener hearing the same old pieces trotted out; but I love it. I find it a way of switching off to the day's activities. The garden is a constant source of recreation, although my favourite statement is that "...shrubs, land fabric and paving slabs make it easy!" But it's still amazing how much time I spend titivating it. I'm sure I'm in denial of the time I actually spend in it. And should you come to stay as my guest, I hope you'll appreciate a rather large surprise there :-) I'm sure if someone else were to write this piece they would say something completely different! But to sum up, I specifically chose the word FUN to be the three letters on my car's numberplate, as life is too short to be dull! After 4 years of living with it, it still makes me smile when I approach the car.

Pendant votre séjour
I'd be delighted to help where I can. I have travelled myself and really value local knowledge. I'm very open to sharing a bottle of vino, if that's your style, and finding out about your world. But if privacy is your thing, that's cool too. Just let me know.
