Tour Itinerary
- 1st day : Visit the City of Angkor Thom, Baphoun, And The Elephant Terrace.

Angkor Thom Enter the city of Angkor Thom through the monumental south gate. Avenue of Gods and Asuras lining the bridge across the structure moat. State temple of Javavarman VII is one of the most enigmatic and powerful religious constructions in the world. It is a unique mass of “face towers” which create a stone mountain of ascending peaks. There were originally 54 towers of which 37 are still standing today.
Baphoun is the vast temple near mountain near the center of Angkor Thom. It’s under Frence’s restoration project, it is possible to access the entrance gate and the elevated walkway entrance and there is a hung , reclining Buddha on the west side of the temple.

The Elephant Terrace is the heart of Angkor Thom and looks out over the Royal Square. It marks the entrance to the Royal Palace and was the focal point for royal receptions. The carvings of elephants along its walls give its modern name.

Terrace of the Leper King,Ta Phrom Temple. actually entering the internal layers of the structure.

Terrace of the Leper King This massive terrace is named after the 15th century sculpture that was discovered on top of it. It probably dates back to the reign of Jayavarman VII and has been restored in a manner which allows visitors to explore the earliest to most recent additions by actually entering the internal layers of the structure.

Ta Phrom Temple (Tomb Raider film by Angelina julie) was built in the 12th century by Jayavarman VII as a royal monastery. It was dedicated to the King’s mother. This temple was chosen to be left in its natural state as an example of how most of Angkor looked, upon its rediscovery in the 18th century. Shrouded in jungle,.
Afternoon
Angkor Wat & sunset at Bakheng. Built between the 9th and 14th centuries,

Angkor Wat the temples of the are among the grandest monuments ever constructed. The entire complex covers approximately 164sq miles with over 200 temples. Among the 30 temples that are accessible today, the most famous is Angkor Wat, the largest religions building in the world. Conceived by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat took an estimated 37 years to build. Unlike most other Khmer Temples, it faces west, the most likely reason being that the temple was dedicated to Vishnu, who is sometimes associated with the West. 5
Phnom Bakheng, late 9th century was the State Temple of the first capital of Angkor. Begin the ascent from the east side at the foot of the hill close to the road. The view from the top is magnificent, particularly of Angkor Wat to the South East and is the most popular spot for visitors at sunset.

- 2nd day : Morning Start @ 07H30-08H00

Banteay Srei “Citadel of Women” was not a Royal Temple. It was built not by kings, but by Brahmin priests. Often described in terms as the ‘Jewel of Khmer Art”, Banteay Srei is a temple of great beauty and compares with little else in Angkor. Its miniature scale almost always surprises visitors and the near total decoration of its surfaces is exceptional.

Banteay Samré is the one of the most complete complexes at Angkor and restored using the archaeological method. The method entails complete deconstruction of the building, numbering of its component part and then painstaking reconstruction.

Afternoon Start @ 14H30-15H00

Visiting the Preah Khan _ Neak Pean - Ta Som Temple.

Preah Khan built in the 12th century was one of Jayavarman VII’s largest projects dedicated to his father. Preah khan was much more than a temple with over 1,000 teachers it appears also to have been a Buddhist university as well as a considerable city.

Neak Pean is a collection of five pounds in the middle of the reservoir Jayatataka, The main made 70m-square pound surrounded by four smaller pounds.

Ta Som is a Small monastic complex, face tower Gopuras many of the carvings which show and uncommon individually. A huge tree grows from the top of the eastern Gopura.

Attracting place in town:

- Wat Kesararam This pagoda is extremely beautiful to behold. The gates surrounding and the wat clearly visible on the skyline are pretty pictures amongst the traffic of the area. The entire grounds are paved, which makes it seem pristine and tidy. The crowning glory of this pagoda is the murals and paintings within, so step out of the chaos and into the calm of Wat Kesararam to enjoy these incredibly preserved and stunning ceiling and wall murals. Murals painted on the outside are more subdued and, like the colourful images within, depict stories of the life of Buddha.
Wat Kesararam is also worth visiting for historical reasons as it served as a security office, prison and even killing field during the Khmer Rouge reign. To the right of the main temple, or preah vihear, is an area with stupas and a memorial to those who died during Pol Pot’s regime.

- Wat Bo Pagoda was built in the 18th century and is therefore one of the oldest pagodas in Siem Reap town. The wall paintings in the temple are intricate and engaging because they present religious scenes and those of the daily life in Cambodia. However, over the course of time, the wall paintings have faded and not all are clearly visible.
There is a school on site at the pagoda, so in the morning and afternoon you see the children running out of the school when the bell rings. Wat Bo has also it’s own radio station and Buddhist high school where the monks can complete their education. Outside of the school flurry, the grounds of Wat Bo are serene and beautiful to spend a short break.

- Wat Preah Prom Rath is one of most beautiful pagodas in Siem Reap. It is located on the river side near the Old Market (Psar Chas). The monastery has many fine, colourful wall paintings and you will find many modern statues inside. Often, you will see monks in the early morning or late afternoon. They follow Buddhist courses and English classes in this pagoda.
It’s unclear exactly when the pagoda was built, however, it’s claim to fame is the large reclining Buddha that was installed in the main temple (Preah Vihear) in 1500. There is a quaint fable about why the Buddha is there, so if you want to find out how a boat turns into a Buddha, go and take a look. In 1915 the main temple and monastery were extended, to include an academic building (University) and a library. Expansion continued until 1945.
