Modest and clean accommodations sharing my 4BR 2.5 bathroom home.

Uniquely coded door locks with each booking. New hybrid mattress. The closet (not shown) is about 4 feet wide and about 2.5 feet deep, with small shelves on one side. The flooring upstairs is reclaimed beech hardwood. Mini-fridge, ironing board, iron, bathrobe. A heated towel available rack upon request and more.

This bedroom shares a clean bathroom with a shower tub combo, spiffy dual shower head, dual flush toilet, new bathroom fan. Washer/Dryer access is on the second floor in the same shared bathroom. I hope to soon update this bathroom.

The "powder room" (half bath) is downstairs.

The home has three rescue canine pets.

This home is within 1 mile of a grocery store and restaurants, including Chipotle, Jersey Mikes, Penn Station Subs, and Starbucks along with other local restaurant establishments. White table restaurants are also close by. Lidl, Aldi and Walmart are about 2 miles away. Trader Joes & Wegmans are within 4 miles and Whole Foods is an easy drive less than 5 miles from the house.

Access to major traveling interstate roads is within 3 miles both east and west. Local hospitals are within 4 miles. NC State is within approx 7 miles. Whole Foods is about 5 miles away. Fresh Market grocery about 1.2 miles and the local Harris Teeter grocery store is within 1 mile. Several major shopping malls are within 5 miles.

Enjoy quiet within the city. On a nice summer night, you can hear crickets and frogs and only a small bit of city noise. The neighbors do have a camera that monitors their backyard and mine.

This home is an ideal location if you are looking for an affordable, basic, comfortable, quiet, safe place to stay with a clean bed, clean bathroom, and a considerate, appreciative host. High-speed WIFI means that working or studying from home is a cinch!

My goal is to provide you with a comfortable space and that after you arrive, put your things away and within 30 minutes you know where the essentials are -- just as if it was your long-term home. :).

I keep two fridges for food storage. The kitchen is equipped with a KitchenAid Artisan II stove, a KitchenAid 43-decibel dishwasher, and lovely fridge. Small appliances include a larger toaster/convection oven, rice cookers, slow cookers, hotpot (for pressed tea and coffee) and more. *Changes are coming and a gas cooktop may be in the works.

Dishes and glassware are readily available. However, you can always bring your favorite mug, and we'll know that it's *your* mug. :)

Parts of the home are undergoing cosmetic transformations. Time and money! 2019 and 2020 are core changes: In 2019 the ductwork was updated (October 2019) and a UV-C air cleaner installed (December 2019).

Upon booking, I will contact you by phone. I request that you confirm your arrival and estimate your time of arrival on the day of your reservation. Doing so enables me to squeeze in my errands--including those for the home. I also request that you call or text me about 30 minutes prior to your arrival in case I am out on errands.

Please see the house rules as they are important.

Note: I also use Airbnb for homestays, so I understand the challenges and uncertainties around scheduling a home-stay. I'll do my best to make sure your stay is relaxing and comfortable. Let me know if you have special needs for fragrance-free sheets, will be arriving late, need some groceries in the fridge ahead of time, need a flexible checkout time, etc.

The neighborhood is a mid-suburban neighborhood. We have trees, some sidewalks, Goodberry's Frozen Custard in walking distance. It's a nice side of town and accessible to multiple areas.

Raleigh is a car kind of town. Public transit is available, but limited.
My home has a 5-car parking pad. Communication is key to parking success to that the person who is leaving first in the morning can conveniently dash out the door. :)

This is a pet-friendly home. My dogs are downstairs so as to minimize the dog hair upstairs. I use a series of gated doors to shift pets from one area to another so that a "dog-free" experience is available. My dogs are relatively quiet, but DO bark when someone approaches the door and upon meeting new people (and if there is a raccoon or other creature on the front porch). There's always good coffee. :) Coffeemakers abound here: A French Press, a stovetop Italian espresso maker, several percolators and drip machines. I generally keep Tim Hortons coffee around. Starbucks is less than 5 minutes away. Several other notable and awesome coffee shops are within a 5 to 10-minute drive. Lots of tea here as well :)

The ability to make a good cuppa tea is also available. I have porcelain teapots, stacking Turkish tea brewer, and good old-fashioned mugs for your comforting cup of tea.

The property has exterior security cameras (video and audio enabled), a Ring doorbell along with Alexa and Google enabled devices in the home. HVAC occupancy sensors with Ecobee thermostat. My neighbors also have exterior security video and audio monitoring devices.

My home, located in North Raleigh, is limited to four occupants. The home is on 1/4 acre in a quiet city neighborhood about 10 to 15 minutes from downtown. during the summer you can hear birds by day and the crickets by night. Because I work from home as a contracted writer, the home has (Hidden by Airbnb) Gigabit access. Note the house rule: NO use of BitTorrent or other services to download copyrighted material. (Hidden by Airbnb) is notified. In turn, I am notified. Airbnb guests are expected to adhere to lawful and fair internet use. If I am not at the house, I am available via phone, text, email and Airbnb messaging 24 hours a day, seven days a week. My hosting style is casual, informative, friendly, concerned and attentive. I have traveled (on an extremely tight budget) much of North America for my son's love of hockey (approximately 270,000 hockey miles). I've also traveled extensively for business at several points (so far) in my career. I do not discriminate who stays in my home based on gender, race, politics. or other personal matters. Two rows need some tweaking. - The foyer and kitchen area are experiencing updates. The treads are mostly updated. - The kitchen features two microwaves, two sinks, a breakfast bar area and more. I'm working on it. Some plumbing is due to be changed and I'm hoping to install Dacor double ovens this year. My Raleigh home features a fully fenced backyard. Two grills are available off the back deck on a brick patio. One is gas and one is charcoal. My home is non-smoking, as I am allergic to tobacco smoke. Moderate alcohol consumption permitted. My home is NOT a hotel and I do not keep a 24-hour cleaning service. People cook. People work. People tend to wear their shoes in the house. People sleep. The dogs do bark when someone rings the bell and when you enter the home. Guests are expected to clean up after themselves in the bathrooms and kitchen. You might not meet your housemates because of differing schedules. However, if you do meet your housemates, whether because of intention or coordination ( ( such as coordinating laundry times and bathroom times, or asking someone to be more quiet), courtesy and kindness is the MOST important house rule. Communication is VITAL. I need to know if some needs to turn down a TV, computer speakers, to speak more quietly, or if something needs cleaning. prefer address concerns promptly. I sleep with my phones beside me and check for messages frequently--even during the night. I am a VERY light sleeper. I'm a fan of most music genres, with EDM among my faves. You may see some Kickstarter items around the house. I want my home to be a place where you feel welcomed and comfortable. Suggestions and ideas for improvements are always welcomed.
