We are a ten minute walk to the British Cemetery, and a ten minute drive to Omaha Beach. Our property was originally owned by the Doyens (the Deans) of Bayeux Cathedral, and the land this manor stands on was originally gifted to the Doyen by Richard the Lionheart. The manor was later used as a field hospital during the D-Day operations, and we have a D-Day Map Room for use by guests and researchers. Fluent English and French spoken. Free WIFI.

Le logement
The twin bedded Green Room is perfect for those wanting peace and quiet whilst being near the centre of town, and has an en-suite shower and toilet. We are unusual in having a well stocked D-Day Map room in our barn for those researching the history of the later stages of WW2 in this area, and guests are encouraged to use this resource. We also have two mischievous goats, a pair of ducks, sheep and an ancient horse pond with plenty of carp. We're happy to provide a travel cot for those travelling with an infant, but please let us know at the time of booking, many thanks.

Accès des voyageurs
Breakfast is served from 8am to 9am. You are welcome to make tea or coffee in the dining room outside of these times.
The D-Day Map Room is always available to guests staying here. You're welcome to take notes and photos, but please leave the exhibits and books in situ.
The grounds are available for guests to relax in; if you need wineglasses and corkscrew, just ask!

Autres remarques
The Green Room is located on the first floor. We do have a stair lift for those that require it.
Please be quiet when coming back late (after 10pm).
For stays of three nights or longer, we change bed linen every third night. Fresh towels are provided daily.

Emplacement

Saint-Loup-Hors, Normandie, France

The British Cemetery and museum is just a ten minute walk from the Manor; the centre of town town and the Cathedral is just a few minutes more. There are plenty of shops, museums and restaurants in the centre of town, and most if not all speak English.

We are an Anglo French married couple interested in history, travelling and nature. Christophe was born here in Bayeux, and Christine was born in London; as a result, we speak French and English. We love our historic manor, and we are delighted to welcome guests from all over the world to this spectacular region of France. Veterans and those currently in service are particularly welcome here and will find much to see and contemplate; nature lovers, particularly bird watchers, will enjoy the goings-on in the grounds as much as we do. We give our guests privacy, but we're here should you need us - don't be afraid to ask for help or recommendations!
