Lovely country setting, private building. Listen to owls and coyotes at night, birds during the day. When it rains you can enjoy the sound on the metal roof. During the high season and during holiday weekends, I only accept advance reservations of 2 nights or more. The space is for 2 adults but I allow for flexibility, so don't hesitate to ask. Seasonal/weekend rates may apply.

Le logement
Quiet country setting with 40 acres of Nature Conservancy land in the backyard. Five minutes from fabulous x-country ski trails at Canterbury Farm. Ten minutes from Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Kushi Institute, and Heartwood School,; thirty minutes from Tanglewood, Minutes away from lakes and hiking. Also ten minutes from the Dream Away Lodge (restaurant with music and more ambiance than you can shake a stick at), twenty minutes from Lee and Chez Nous French Bistro.

Renovated studio cabin with original artwork, some of mine and some of it is folk art from around the world. There's a kitchenette with a toaster oven, hot plate, rice cooker, tiny fridge, microwave, coffee and teapots, and a blender. There is one very deep sink located in the private bath. One bed, a firm queen mattress. Ground floor; art studio above used when guests out, separate entrances, privacy.

Sleeps 2 comfortably. (One pair of guests had a baby and that worked fine, too.)

The sheets and towels are all cotton and cleaned with unscented laundry soap. Natural fibers and cleaning products throughout. HEPA vacuum. I have chemical sensitivities and am allergic to gluten; I ask that you not use perfume or perfumed sprays of any kind inside the cabin. If you use gluten flours please be sure to clean up thoroughly.

All the outdoor space is available for your use except for that connected to the main house. There's a lovely yard with a sitting area and a table with an umbrella which is a great place to eat outside. Please bring your own charcoal for the outdoor grill, and /or smoker. We have a charcoal chimney that is used to eliminate the need for lighter fluid.

We leave guests to themselves unless they have any issues. We can also be sociable when guests are interested in that - we take our cues from the guests.

Because of Covid-19, I will leaving 48 hours between guests so that the space can be aired before my partner and I clean and then disinfect, and so we can then leave time for the space to air out again. All guests must follow social distancing and mask-wearing regulations. (Please note that we did not check off the box saying we paid our cleaners a living wage because we are the cleaners.)

Cell phone service is iffy here. Wifi mostly works well since I got a new dedicated router and set up a booster in the cabin, but the connectivity in the country is not perfect and can slow down at times. We don't have much bandwidth, so if you have an iphone 11 please keep the wifi off except when you using it. (Earlier models don't pose a problem.) One guest had no problems on her computer, but her phone wifi was spotty - not sure why that would be. If excellent connectivity is important to you, this is probably not the right place.

This is the country - you need a vehicle. GPS seems to be getting right to the house - email me if the listed directions don't compute and let me know your route - I'll give you directions from the main roads.

Treat yourself to a private art class in my studio upstairs. If you want to learn about color or how to draw what you see, or if you've ever felt blocked with your painting or drawing I can help with that!

A word on reservations: weekends in July, August, and October please make single night reservation no more than one week prior to visit.

Accès des voyageurs
All outdoor spaces as well as the front ground floor room of the cabin. Please bring your own own charcoal for the grill or smoker. There's a dining table with chairs and an Adirondack chair outside.

Autres remarques
As of now, July 2020, the State of Massachusetts is mandating that all visitors to the state quarantine for 14 days, except for those coming from other New England states, New Jersey, and New York. All persons who have been in other states must also quarantine for 14 days.

In order to keep everyone safe, I am leaving 48 hours between guests so the place can air out before and after we clean and disinfect. (All bedding, including blankets and shams are wahsed between guests.)

We have 40 acres of Nature Conservancy land backing up to our property. There is lots of wildlife; you'll probably hear owls and night and sometimes coyotes. You also might spot a black bear! There's a lovely place to sit outside, a dining table with an umbrella. You can snowshoe or X-country ski right out the door. Five minutes away, Canterbury Farms has trails.

The yard has a pasture on one side and 40 acres of Nature Conservancy land along the back of the property. On the other side is a house about 70 yards away with a wooded lot between us. It's very quiet here, except for the wildlife. There are no street lamps and lots of stars.

Greetings! I'm an artist - a painter - and I live here with my partner, Jim, who specializes in forest products and conservation.
Pendant votre séjour
I'm usually around or not gone for long. I tend to leave guests to themselves unless they're looking for interaction or help.
