Cozy, comfortable room with twin beds (2 single beds) in our family home located next to a beautiful city park with a lake, walking trails, canoes, and paddle boats. This upstairs room shares a bath with other guests. Full access to yard plus a side porch by the driveway to enjoy. Free parking if requested and approved at the time of booking. Centrally located in the Research Triangle Park area Just 2 miles from Centennial Campus; 3-5 miles from NCSU main campus; 4-5 miles to downtown Raleigh.

Le logement
The Secret Room is cozy and comfortable. There is a mini refrigerator in the room and access to a shared Keurig coffeemaker as well as a microwave just outside the room. The room was named the Secret Room when my kids were small because it only had access through a small kid-sized half door so you would not have known there was a finished room behind that little door. Many tea parties and sleepovers were held in there back in those days. When the kids grew up we put in a full-size door and made it a regular guest room, but it will forever be known as the secret room.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests are welcome to enjoy the yard as well as the side porch by the driveway. Guests staying 7 days or longer may use the washer and dryer upon request.

Autres remarques
In the interest of transparency and clear communication, we want to be sure all of our guests are aware of and agree to the following terms...

- This is our family home and it is shared with the host family, other guests, and a very elderly Shetland sheepdog who is deaf and has bad hips and as a result is losing the use of her back legs. We are considering adopting a cat for my daughter so even though the family pets are never allowed in your rooms, if you are allergic to dogs or cats, our home is not a good choice for you.
- For everyone's peace of mind, we require all guests to complete the identity verification with Airbnb before booking. For details on how identity verification works, please see this FAQ: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/1237/how-does-it-work-when-airbnb-verifies-your-identity.
- Because the host is high risk for complications from Covid-19, we require guests to practice reasonable social distancing and to wear a mask when passing through the house (not required in your room of course).
- We used to allow guest access to the kitchen and living room of the home but sadly, due to the pandemic, we can no longer allow that (doctor's orders). We have placed a mini-refrigerator in each of our two guest rooms. There is a shared Keurig coffee maker and a shared microwave outside the guest rooms for your use.
- The bathroom is shared with other guests and we require each guest to thoroughly clean up behind themselves with each bathroom use.
- If you are staying longer than 7 days, you may use the washer and dryer upon request.
- To help with social distancing, other parts of the house are currently not available to guests.
- Guests are not allowed to bring visitors into the home.
- We respect your privacy and will not enter your room during your stay unless necessary (eg, in an emergency or for the quarterly pest control treatments). We always try to warn you in advance of entering your room, but in the event of an emergency that is not always possible. In several years of hosting, we have never had to enter a room for an emergency, but we reserve the right.
- There is enough safe, off street parking in the driveway for the hosts and guests, just let me know WHEN YOU BOOK if you will need parking and please be aware we may need to coordinate so no one is blocked in.
- Please don’t book with us if you are critical or harsh in your ratings and feel the need to always find something wrong. Your room will ALWAYS be clean when you arrive. We are ALWAYS happy to address any concern brought to our attention DURING your stay. We cannot address your concern if we do not hear about it until AFTER you check out. If you are looking for a sterile and pristine environment, a lived in home such as ours is probably not your best bet. If you enjoy being welcomed as a personal guest into a happy, family home, you should like it here! :-)
- Finally, the home has the regular noises of a family routine plus the normal noises of other guests.

We would love to host you, but if you decide that a shared family home with two Airbnb guest rooms, a very elderly dog with bad hips (and maybe a cat one day soon), is not the right fit for you, we will definitely understand : ).

I’m a friendly, easygoing person who is known for being on the quiet side. I love to learn, as evidenced by the fact that I am in my 50’s and working on a PhD. My passion for learning has a lot to do with my quietness, I learn so much more by listening! I am social and enjoy conversation, though. I have two daughters. The oldest is living in Michigan where she is working as an EMT and studying to become a paramedic. The youngest graduated High School in 2020 and lives with me. She has deferred her college admission due to the pandemic and for now is working full time in an art supply store in Raleigh. She is a very talented artist! I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC. I love to travel and my girls are the BEST travel buddies. We went to Egypt when they were 9 and 13 years old and they’ve been happy travelers ever since. In the summer of 2017 my youngest daughter and I took a fun-filled road trip on the Pacific Coast Highway and stayed in Airbnbs. I loved the experience so much that I am not only a fan of being an Airbnb guest, but I now enjoy hosting guests in my home in Raleigh, NC. Traveling and interacting with new people, places, and cultures is learning at its best! I am always up for an adventure or new experience, but at the same time, a peaceful evening at home alone, a walk in nature, or just hanging out with friends and family are high on my list of enjoyable activities.
