Finch Hatton Gorge Cabins
The Gorge area is home to many birds and animals, Bush turkey, Brolga, Azure kingfisher, Eungella honeyeater, Monitor lizard, Pythons, Wallaby, Platypus, Possum and Flying fox to name a few. Ulysses' and Birdwing butterflies flit by regularly. Platypus can be seen in the gorge area at Johnstons road, upstream from the creek crossing. Cabins overlook the unspoilt river.

Le logement
Local swimming areas in the Eungella National Park are 1.5klm north of us where you will find waterfalls, deep swimming holes and well maintained walking tracks. Johnston road is 1.5klm in the opposite direction and another swimming spot will be found there. Underneath Highams bridge (the 40klm speed limit one) is another popular swimming and platypus viewing area, please leave your vehicle up by the road.

Autres remarques
The town of Finch Hatton, 10klm away, has all the services you would expect in a small town, from a pub to post office (CBA agent). The local store owners have eftpos, a varied supply of groceries, takeaway meals and a sub newagency. The Historical Railway Station has some great displays of photos ans stories of the settlers of this area, as well as internet access. The three hotels in the area (Criterion, Pinnacle and Eungella) have dining rooms and each do takeaway meals as well. Twice a month Finch Hatton Community Markets are held on Eungella road near the hotel on a sunday morning.
Twenty minutes drive from Finch Hatton up the Clarke range brings you to the township of Eungella. On the way there is another swimming area at the end of Senini's road, turn off Eungella road to your right after the bus shelter 4klm out of Finch Hatton. This spot is best in the wet season with lots of small rock pools joined togeather by slippery rock channels, great for sliding in, like natural water slides. Take a packed lunch; the kids won’t want to leave. Ask at the local shops about the latest rainfall and road conditions before heading up there to avoid disappointment.
Most of the above swimming spots are on private property, please respect the owners and remove all rubbish so these areas can continue to be used by the public. None of these areas have public toilets or garbage bins.
