Hi, I am Somma. I was born in the land of Royal Bengal tigers but got tamed in the hooter driven industrial town of Jamshedpur in the tribal state of Jharkhand in eastern India. In early 2000, I suddenly stumbled into the wonderland of the digital world through the rabbit hole of an era that did not have Internet, and thus, I am here, hosting my space in Airbnb!
Mother of two grown-up millennials, nowadays, if I am not kidding around with my long-lost foumd-again childhood friends on social media or women-only-trips, I find myself penning down soul searching pensive poems on a rainy day or a solo train journey. Besides that, I also write a bit feminist or social issue and lifestyle-based content for the digital space as a freelance Feature Journalist and a blogger. When I am not writing, I hum Bollywood songs from my teen and post-teen days, try picking up a few contemporary at the insistence of my kids though I can't tell the singers from one another, watch a lot of OTT content, Open Mic shows and stuff, listen to interesting TED talks and podcasts on life and minds. Luckily, my five decades-plus age do not limit my hunger to learn and try new things, or from enjoying any genre of music.
I like the genre of drama in movies - Gone with the wind, The Bridges of Madison County, Forrest Gump or Life is Beautiful are a few of my favourite classics while in contemporary releases I liked Interstellar, Inception, The Social Network, Snowden among others.
Nowadays I like to read more non-fiction that questions and explores the veracity of established beliefs and thoughts. I am passionate about art, handicraft and ethnic culture. Amazing creations of nature, as well as humans, attract me a lot. I love to explore their origin and the stories behind them.
I organize art and handicraft appreciation workshops with the Indian folk artists and master craftsmen and women, from various craft regions across the country for culture enthusiasts and share the heritage story of my country with them.
I am also a certified Life Coach.
I live in Mumbai. My listings are at my parental home in Kolkata. If I am there during your visits, I would love to talk about a wide range of topics with you, share ideas and experiences. I look forward to meeting new friends from across the world and learning new things from them. If I am not there, my younger brother Deep would be there for sure. Most of the time he stays there. A corporate senior, Deep is an extra-caring co-host. He goes the extra mile to make your stay most comfortable and memorable. You can expect warm and friendly hosting from all of us with a lot of experiences to share.
