Il s'agit de l'un des rares endroits de la région qui dispose de cet équipement.
Charming apartment in Bolsena's lovely Medieval Castello. Country views. Lake and beach less than 10 minutes walk. Stunning location. Superb lake views nearby. Castle 50 yards. Free parking 3 mins walk away The tranquil Castello has every facility, and a very short stroll away is a variety of shops and restaurants. The entire area is of astonishing ancient historical interest and of beauty.

Le logement
The apartment door is reached by a flight of steps where you enter into a good sized kitchen with a table and chairs. Beyond is a charming living room with a very good double bed settee, chairs, glass coffee table and writing desk. A small bathroom has WC shower and bidet. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine bedroom with a large and comfortable new double bed. The kitchen and high bedroom window have views onto the Lazzio countryside.
For winter there a wonderfully warm log stove in the living room. Logs are located under the outside stairs. The stove heats the whole house and will burn till about 5.am. from midnight. There is a halogen electric heater for the early morning start. There is a good high tog double duvet for the bed.
The space is generously and sensibly for two.
Occasionally the double bed settee downstairs may be used, and there is a single folding bed. Use of these would be by special arrangement.

Accès des voyageurs
Giving onto a secluded pretty little communal courtyard, the apartment is totally private and self contained.
Don't forget, free Wi Fi is available just seconds around the corner at the quiet bar just 60 paces away! They are open 8.00 till midnight. Their coffee is really good. The restaurant side may look empty sometimes. Don't be put off, their evening Pizzas are truly exceptional and the staff are great. It's just not so touristic which is a plus!

Autres remarques
Whilst here is no washing machine at present there is a very good pulley washing line from the kitchen window. To date I have happily hand washed clothes either in the kitchen sink by the window or in the ancient cisterna next door through the arch into which which fresh spring water gushes all day long. Any of the ladies of the Castello will give advice on its use.
Have a torch handy. There are very occasional power cuts in a thunderstorm.
Finally, general using things are stocked up when I go out there and I will leave plenty for use by subsequent guests. The custom with self catering is normally for guests to keep levels topped up at very low cost. I have ticked amenities because I do provide bedding and towels for use at the house. If the previous guests were unable to maintain levels, all of these items are obtained inexpensively at the Alimentare just 1 minute away.
Enjoy !

Bolsena, Latium, Italie

I love the neighbourhood. Not much English is spoken but they adore visitors in Bolsena. Hospitality is an historic tradition. I love that if I am feeling exclusive I do not have to go down to the main town at all. Everything I need is up in the Castello.
There is a traditional non touristic Italian Bar-Restaurant just 20 yards around the corner from the archway to the piazetta where you will find a very good pizza to eat in or take away. In the morning it is so handy for a good cappuccino if you are feeling too lazy to make coffee at home! These are available to take out too.
10 yards further on and to the right you will find Roberta’s Alimentare. She keeps a wonderful delicatessen counter and grinds fresh coffee to order. Anything which Roberta does not sell will be found at the Tobacconist/Stationer just another 30 yards away close to the little castle bridge. Lightbulbs, matches notepaper etc. Just downhill from here on the corner of the little street and still opposite the castle is a charming Enotecca owned by Alessandro and Anna. Here you can drink beautiful local wine on cushions on the steps under the night sky or in the charming little bar.
There is even a very good barber / hairdresser opposite the Alimenatare.

If you just want to rest and take gentle walks the Castello is quite self contained.

However it is lovely to wander down to the main town and browse the delightful local restaurants and little shops. There are two ways to walk down. The steps near to the house are shallow and not too challenging. The other way down beyond the castle is ancient and fascinating but much steeper.
Down in the town La Tavernetta has to make one of the finest pizzas in the world! Trip Advisor recommends another one equally highly at the other end of town but I have never tried it.
Tanaquilla half way up the hill on the Orvieto road is also truly excellent, friendly and attractively al fresco. It stays open very late which is wonderful if your plane is too.
The church of Santa Christina is fascinating with its Catacombs and its history of the transubstantiation.
Corpus Christi day is an incredible event when the whole of Bolsena is paved in flowers. Each street creates its own pattern. You would be welcome to join this process if you were there then. There is a huge procession including a marching band and hosts of church dignitaries parading the blood stained stone. The day ends with a huge firework display and the whole community eats and drinks together.
The Feast of Santa Christina is another amazing event where each district of this small but important town depicts by incredible tableaux each of the torments of this important saint. The town moves together through Bolsena to visit each tableau finishing at the Church of Santa Christina. Again the day ends with magnificent fireworks.
There are musical concerts in the town throughout the season.
On Fridays up near the house on the street by the bar there is a dance in which everyone is included.
Just 4 minutes up the hill are some fascinating Roman excavations

blissed out lake bolsena

Swimming in the lake is a delight, the water is perfectly clean and is less than ten minutes’ walk from the house.

There are spectacular opportunities for walking all around

There is so much to see here and in the surrounding area.

Article bolsena volcanic miracle

Orvieto is so interesting and the approach to it from Bolsena by road is a stunning view.

A dying town Citiva nearby is a also spectacular sight.

And so much more! Enjoy !
