This beautiful bluestone Adelaide estate home with 4 bedrooms and a tennis court is set in beautiful landscaped gardens, surrounded by soaring gum trees. It has neutral décor, high ceilings, timber & slate floors, stained glass, an all-weather floodlit tennis court, BBQ area & patios for evening drinks & relaxing.

Positioned on Glynburn Road at Leabrook, in the heart of Adelaide’s leafy eastern suburbs, this beautiful old Adelaide estate home is set in formal gardens with gum trees on the fence line. This lovely bluestone property was built late in the 19th century and was originally used as a shop, hence its double-fronted layout and position fronting Glynburn Road.

It is a beautiful example of the architecture of its time with its neutral décor, high ceilings, timber and slate floors, stained glass, tessellated tile verandah and generous spaces. It has an all-weather floodlit tennis court with a beautiful Chinese Elm framed slate patio for evening drinks and relaxing.

A character-sensitive restoration some years ago by the current owner has produced a beautiful, elegant and very comfortable but unpretentious home with a comfortable lounge, conservatory-style meals area, elegant formal dining room, 4 bedrooms, a timeless white kitchen and 2 bathrooms (the main bathroom is huge)!

The house is well equipped with ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning and some ceiling fans, new oven and fridge and Miele front-loading washer and Hoover tumble dryer. The large Sony flat-screen television is connected to a Bose sound system. Parking is in the single carport (with kitchen access) at the side of the house, with two further parking spaces available in the driveway behind the automatic driveway gates. Although the front windows are double-glazed, the front rooms still experience some noise from Glynburn Road during high traffic times, which is inaudible in the living room at the back of the house. Please note carefully: the house is NOT suitable for crawling infants or toddlers/young children due to the drop and stairs between the lounge room and the conservatory and between the outdoor patio and the lawns. There is also a step down into the fourth bedroom and up into the kitchen from outside.

This home is a wonderful example of traditional Adelaide eastern suburbs classic architecture which has not been overdone by a sleek, ‘plastic’ renovation and papering over the minor cracks.

You will really enjoy your stay in this almost 130 year old historic property, especially if you have an appreciation of the beauty, graciousness and charm of older character-laden Adelaide homes.

A limited window of opportunity has arisen for guests to rent this superb home on a holiday rental basis. However, a longer-term arrangement may be considered for the right guests. The property is pet-friendly, but containment of pets within the fencing is not guaranteed as smaller pets may wander, particularly through the bars or under the front gates of the property. The safety and containment of your pets is your responsibility.

This unique home is located on its own ‘island’ of land on Glynburn Road, next door to a small corner park and to the manse of the Knightsbridge Baptist Church. The local IGA supermarket, Leabrook patisserie/bakery/coffee shop and petrol station are two doors down the street for perishables, supplies, morning papers and coffee. The Feathers Hotel and a selection of Indian and Thai restaurants and a fish and chip shop are within walking distance on the corner of Greenhill Road and Glynburn Road. It’s a 40-minute walk to the shops and restaurants on the Parade at Norwood and a 10 minute drive to the iconic Burnside Village Shopping Centre. The Adelaide CBD, Mount Lofty Summit, Cleland Conservation Park, Mount Osmond Golf Course and Greenhill Recreation Park are all within easy reach.
