This historic studio was built in 1871 and has the wide plank wooden floors, wooden vigas, and a large stone fireplace. A modern bathroom and private balcony were added more recently. The studio is in the Historic District, the most desirable neighborhood in town. It is located right down the street from the famous art galleries and well known restaurants of Canyon Road

Le logement
This is an historic adobe, built in 1871, and situated on a quiet, tree-lined street -- just a few blocks from the best galleries and restaurants of Canyon Road. A little over a half mile to the Plaza and Museum Hill, the neighborhood is considered the most desirable in Santa Fe. This is due not only to the location and charm but also because it's the greenest part of town, in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range, near the river, with gorgeous light and shadows as well as proximity to fantastic walking and hiking trails.

The space itself is a studio attached to the back of our home. It has a separate entrance with its own walkway to a secluded patio and front door. The space is quite large with a King size bed in the center and a sitting area with two large leather chairs facing the stone fireplace. A sliding glass door leads out to a small, enclosed deck looking over the garden.

Remodeled in 2010, it has a modern bathroom with a large tiled shower. It also has a large closet, dresser, desk with books & magazines on Santa Fe and northern New Mexico, a mini fridge and small table with coffee and tea. There is a secure, private WiFi connection for streaming of movies etc. There is no television.

It's a large, quiet space with beautiful light and, over the years, a number of writers and artists -- local & international -- have chosen to make regularly scheduled visits. This space has been described by many Airbnb guests as very sweet, "relaxing" and "romantic".

Homes in this neighborhood were built in the Pueblo Revival style dating back to the early 1800's. The trees are older and taller than in other areas of Santa Fe, blessing the neighborhood with much coveted shade. Our street borders on the historic Acequia Madre -- or Mother Ditch -- a unique and beautiful stream which winds through town. And, lastly, Canyon Road, an international destination for art, has over a hundred galleries and studios exhibiting Native American art and antiquities, traditional and modern Hispanic art, regional Contemporary art, international folk art and international contemporary art.

Walking distance from the house is a wonderful cafe and restaurant called The Tea House and a well shaded, grassy park which borders on the Santa Fe River -- Patrick Smith Park. El Farol, a Santa Fe institution, has live music most nights and many of our guests love sitting out on their balcony in the evening, enjoying a drink while watching people come and go from the galleries.

The house is about three quarters of a mile from the Plaza. The walk to the Plaza is a very enjoyable stroll down Canyon Road or along the river walkway. We are also about three quarters of a mile away from Museum Hill. If you prefer not to walk, the 'M' line city bus in our neighborhood goes to both places. The Santa Fe trolley to tourist destinations runs right through this neighborhood as well.

Santa Fe is the oldest snd highest -- in elevation -- capitol city in the country. Our neighborhood is the oldest in town and the roads were all originally horse trails! Many are dirt and very narrow, with lots of twists and curves. I always warn guests that GPS will send you to some interesting places in this part of town...but not necessarily your exact destination! I can't get enough of wandering the roads/trails of our neighborhood. It's one of my favorite things to do with my daughter in the evenings or on the weekends. We just set out walking in any direction and find all kinds of hidden pathways and "dead end" roads which lead to tree-lined pathways along the acequias, arroyos and river.

One of the reasons I love being an Airbnb host is that I get to meet such a great diversity of incredibly interesting people. We have become friends with many guests over the years and have even gone to visit some of our guests in their homes on Airbnb -- wonderful!

Autres remarques
The studio allows visitors total privacy if that's what they prefer. I am available to my guests 24/7 but I tend to stay in the background unless sought out.

The Historic Eastside is an incredibly desirable neighborhood for visitors to Santa Fe for many, many reasons. It was the home of the original inhabitants. Homes in this neighborhood were built in the Pueblo Revival style dating back to the early 1800's. The trees are older and taller than in other areas of Santa Fe, blessing the neighborhood with much coveted shade and water. Our street borders on the historic Acequia Madre -- or Mother Ditch -- a unique and beautiful stream which winds through town. Our house is in a fantastic location in terms of access to beauty as well as tourist attractions. Just to the east of us is St. John's College with its beautiful campus, open fields, large arroyo for walking and the trailhead for Atalaya hiking. Just to the south of us is Museum Hill -- a collection of five of the most visited museums in town, including the Botanical Garden and the International Folk Art Museum. To the north of us are the Dale Ball Trails and the Audobon Center. And right down the road from us is the infamous Canyon Road, an international destination for art -- with over a hundred galleries and studios exhibiting Native American art and antiquities, traditional and modern Hispanic art, regional Contemporary art, international folk art and international contemporary art. Walking distance from the house is a wonderful cafe and restaurant called The Tea House and a well shaded, grassy park which borders on the Santa Fe River -- Patrick Smith Park. I live in Santa Fe NM and work as a psychotherapist and writer. I lived in France for many years and have also spent time in Argentina, Uruguay and South Africa. I'm an avid reader of fiction and some of my favorite writers are Ishiguru, Coetzee and Saramago.

Pendant votre séjour
This varies greatly because I follow the lead of my guests. So, I've had guests come and go who I've literally never met (due to the private entrance). I've had other guests -- maybe staying for an extended time -- who have eaten with our family (because we simply "hit it off"). We are very friendly people so I'm sure you'll find it easy to communicate with us. That said, I believe it's important to maintain good boundaries to protect both my privacy and yours.
The typical scenario is that I'll meet you when you arrive, show you the space and then give you your privacy.

You will find a collection of books and magazines about Santa Fe and the surrounding area in the studio. which I have collected over the years. The free weekly newspaper, The Reporter, lists all events from Wednesday to Wednesday. The New Mexican newspaper includes the Pasatiempo on Sundays with an excellent calendar or weekly events.

Santa Fe is known to be a great home to "foodies". There are any number of fantastic restaurants and cafes from budget to gourmet. I'd do some research and trust the Reporter's "Best of Santa Fe" listings and Yelp for the opinions of hundreds of locals.
