Le logement
Real quick -- house rules:

No early check in or late checkouts. Check in is 4pm or later; check out is 10am or earlier. No smoking inside, outside or in the neighborhood (HOA rules); no fire pits; no parties; no pets. 2 cars & 4 guests max. Guests load & start dishwasher and a laundry load of towels/hand towels/washcloths at checkout (we have negotiated a lower cleaning fee based on this). Accurate guest count is mandatory. AWD, snow tires or 4WD recommended from October to May. Home is 1334 s/f. Duraflame logs only in main fireplace. Note there are other homes nearby in neighborhood but it is quiet and peaceful; if you seek isolation you need to search about 20 minutes from Estes Park. Also no cable -- bring your own streaming accounts for the smart TV.

My home is perfectly situated blocks from the boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park and across the street from the bank of the Big Thompson River. It's is more than 100 years old, lovingly cared for and meticulously restored. Though it predates most buildings in the Estes Valley (and even the Town itself) it's in great shape and has been been fully modernized for your comfort. I am a photographer by profession and have decorated the walls with my favorite images of the area. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!

You can watch the sun rise over the mountains from bed, eat breakfast while elk and deer mill about, hike into the National Park (either Beaver Meadows or to the top of Eagle Cliff Mountain) from the front door, and come home and watch the stars over the high peaks as you BBQ on the deck and listen to the sound of the river.

1) By booking, you are agreeing to the house and neighborhood rules at the bottom of the listing. You MUST read them, as this property is located in an HOA with other homes nearby.
2) The home is a very useable 1,334 square feet but it may seem smaller due to the funky a-frame construction in the loft.
3) This is an old, old home!! The living room fireplace is original and does not burn efficiently. Wood logs, especially when wet, will smoke out the house. You may only burn Duraflame or equivalent woodchip/sawdust logs in the living room fireplace. You can burn regular logs in the bedroom fireplace.

I invite you to stay in my cozy cabin! You will love its warmth, cleanliness, retro feel and authentic mountain vibe.

It's perfectly appointed with comfy furnishings, a fully stocked kitchen, a washer/dryer, and countless amenities so you can feel at home during your mountain getaway in Estes Park.

Guests here have raved:

"... The cabin is an absolute delight! The location couldn’t be any better."
"... I travel the country frequently and have added this to my list of return trips."
"... Absolutely beautiful place, in an amazing location. Can't wait to stay again!"
"... In a nice location by the river and with great mountain views... looks exactly like the pictures posted!"
"... Beautiful setting and amazing host."

I spent a month giving my new cabin a facelift to create a quiet, relaxing sanctuary for your mountain retreat. Improvements include:

+ Updated lighting
+ Brand new smart TV
+ Twinkly, cozy lights throughout
+ A new smart TV with lots of streaming options,
+ Super fast WiFi with no dead zones

You will enjoy a living room with games, puzzles and a smart TV, a dining area with seating for 6, a vintage rock fireplace that will take you back in time, two screened in porches, and a big wrap-around deck with a picnic table and BBQ.

My favorite feature is the wraparound deck, which offers a straight view of Hallet Peak glistening in the morning sunrise and glowing beneath the Milky Way at night.

My home offers a massive master bedroom with a sofa, huge king bed, reading chair, interesting bookshelf, and mid-century modern fireplace. My favorite part of this bedroom is that it opens directly onto the huge wrap-around deck.

Deck - This is the hallmark of my home, and it's my favorite place to spend time. There’s a picnic table and BBQB there so you can relax, read, watch wildlife roaming around, stare at the mountains and stars, and just chill out and enjoy the peace and quiet. I promise that when the Milky Way rises, you’ll see more stars than most people ever have in their lives. You'll often feel like you're in a zoo; because the national park boundary is literally a few blocks away, herds of deer and elk are constantly roaming around.

Living Room - You'll pass much of your time here, either on two super comfy recliners or on a luxuriously soft leather sofa in front of the fireplace. Twinkly lights overhead light up the space, and a cool vintage Edison-bulb chandelier puts off a cool old-school vibe. There is no drywall -- it's all warm, cozy and inviting wood. My own art adorns the walls and a smart television hangs above the fireplace, so you can stream pretty much anything you’d like with your friends and family.

WiFi - I moved the home’s WiFi location to provide a centralized access point with no dead zones on the property. You’ll enjoy a strong connection for streaming, entertainment and work.

Kitchen - The kitchen is fully stocked It features a big oven, a full sized fridge/freezer, a microwave, dishwasher, various small appliances, cutlery, dishes, utensils, bowls/pots/pans and virtually anything else you may need or want. It opens directly to the dining area so you can socialize as someone's cooking.

Laundry - There's a small utility room with a washer and a dryer that you are free to use. Please do! I try to keep the detergent stocked but don't guarantee it, so it may be wise to bring a little of your own. It is a VERY cramped space, so be warned. You can also use a small second shower in there.

Estes has become sought after year-round destination over the last five years. In fact, a few years ago the town was named to more than 50 lists of Best, Favorite and Top Destinations. Here are a select few:

Here's what National Geographic Magazine wrote out our little slice of paradise:

"Rising up along the Continental Divide, Rocky Mountain National Park is a natural overachiever, with 77 mountains above 12,000 feet—including 14,259-foot Longs Peak—and a span of alpine tundra. Snow-packed granite peaks tower over a calm of ponderosa pines, which ease toward meadow and meandering stream—four ecosystems within one park. It’d be simple to cover them all on a drive along scenic Trail Ridge Road, but why not channel Enos Mills and hike some of the 355 miles of trails instead? You might hear elk bugling or spy otters swimming among lily pads."

Estes Park, Colorado, États-Unis

My historic cabin is along Highway 66 only a few short minutes from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It's a quiet area that sees little traffic, and the park boundary is a few blocks away. Additionally the property backs up to a nature easement. This means that elk, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, bears, raccoons, hummingbirds, and mule deer frequently pass by.

The Big Thompson River across the street can be fished once you get a permit from the state (available at local outfitters, etc).

VERY IMPORTANT: My place is in a small development, so there are a few rules that you are agreeing to when you book my place -- and they apply to my entire neighborhood, not just my house:

- No smoking ANYWHERE AT ALL in the neighborhood or inside or around my house.
- 15mph on all roads once you enter the neighborhood.
- Quiet hours from 9pm to 9am. That means no parties or noisy socializing on the deck.
- No RVs, ATVs, motorhomes, campers or motorcycles
- No open fires
- No pets
- There is a wonderful playground for families about a block away in the neighborhood.
