Villa di Capo, the sole old winery in Akrotiri in Santorini, was renovated into luxurious villas.
Respecting the winery’s history, the Venetian castle and the settlement’s architecture, Villa di Capo offers the visitor a luxurious, elegant, tailor-made stay.
The view of Kastelli, the Caldera and the Cretan sea, along with the peaceful feel, privacy and historical importance of the site, offer the visitor a unique experience in one of the most beautiful islands in the world: Santorini!

Le logement
The Villa di Capo - Antonis was named after the patriarch of the Arvanitis family. The idea for the winery was exclusively his. This building was the heart of the traditional winery, where grapes were stomped and the must was made.

Villa extends in a 115m2 area, it has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and can accomodate up to six adults. You can enjoy the view of the Venetian castle and the Cretan sea from the private pool and the extraordinary Santorini sunset from the private terrace that overlooks the Caldera. You can relax at the living room, cook traditional plates with the island's local products in the kitchen or read your favorite book at the office lounge.

The villa features a private pool, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining space, a lounge, an office, two bathrooms, a flat 55” screen with satellite TV and Netflix, VDSL internet, a safe, large wardrobes and private parking for more than 3 cars.

Villa di Capo, a compound on the prehistoric settlement of Akrotiri in Santorini, was once a traditional winery owned by the family of Antonis and Theologini Arvanitis. Founded in 1926, the winery produced various wines made with grapes from the ancient vineyards of the island of Thira.

Grapes were stomped with the makers’ feet at the winery’s main building (Villa di Capo-Antonis), and no mechanical presses were used. The grapes were stomped into must in the winepresses, which are preserved in their original state in the building.
The must was later put into oakwood barrels and moved to the hollow building Villa di Capo – Maria, to age.

The marble inscriptions, the oak barrels, the vineyard winch, the winepress, the clay pots and some of the tools used in the winemaking process, are all part of the Villa di Capo decoration, today.

We are looking to respect the site’s history and give the visitor the chance to experience a journey to a long gone era, while all the same providing a unique experience of luxurious hospitality.

Welcome to Villa di Capo!

Akrotiri, Grèce

Villa di Capo sits on the southwestern part of Santorini, in Akrotiri, 10 km away from the port of Athini, 11 km from Fira and 12 km from the island airport.

Akrotiri is world-famous for the prehistoric settlement revealed in the 1967 excavations. Archaeologists hold that the earliest evidence of the settlement’s habitation, date back to the Late Neolithic times (around 4500 BC). The archaeological site only five minutes away from the villas. Visiting the site, the guests will have the chance to have a unique experience and connect to the island’s history.

In the Middle Ages, Akrotiri was occupied by the Venetians, and it became one of the five fortified settlements of Santorini. Today, on the peak of the hill where Villa di Capo is built, the Venetian Tower (Goula) of the castle still stands, overlooking the horizon.
Some of the most famous beaches of the island, such as the Red Beach and the White Beach are just 2.5 km away from the villas. Visiting those beaches is a one-of-a kind experience. A natural marvel created by the volcano, the Red Beach is enclosed by steep red hills. The red, pulverized volcanic rock that composes the sand contrasts the dark blue waters, creating a mesmerising scenery. The White Beach is white pebbled - hence the name- and surrounded by cliffs that form a cove. The thing that sets this beach apart is its white color, dominant in the scenery, that is not encountered in any other shore on the island.

The lighthouse of the island, built in 1892 during the Ottoman occupation is an ideal spot from where you can enjoy the world-famous Santorini sunset. Only 4.5 km away from Villa di Capo, it’s an idyllic, serene and peaceful spot for blissful, romantic moments.

Villa di Capo, built right beneath the Venetian Castle and overlooking the Cretan Sea and the Caldera, is the ideal place for the visitor who wants to discover the island of Santorini, to use as a base. The Villas are luxurious and private, but also give the guest easy access to breath taking sights and marvelous beaches!
