***

FABULOUS sunrises, sunsets and 360 degree views. The island itself is about 300 feet long, 60 feet wide, nicely treed, with some more open areas. A limestone beach surrounds the island and slopes gradually into the water (so it's safe for kids and pets to walk in). A long metal dock is right near the cabin.

Access to the island is by boat - about a 15 minute ride. We can drop you off and pick up (there is a canoe on the island for puttering around).

The Cabin sleeps 6 or 7 in rustic comfort, there is also large Boat House/Storage building, a Generator Shed…and a composter toilet shed.

THE CABIN is simple with windows on all sides, approx. 300 sf on the ground level and larger on the 2nd floor. (the largest Bedroom extends over the porch area). A 1½ story, it has a wood board and batten exterior and antique tongue and groove wood walls inside:

FIRST FLOOR: an open concept Living Room/Dining Area/Kitchen with propane fridge and stove and a sink. There is (often, but not always) running cold water to the Kitchen and mini-Bathroom sink (from the roof, via rain barrels). When/if that runs out, then there is LOTS available by bucket from the dock, 20 feet away.

SECOND LEVEL: accessed via a ladder, has walls sloping to the floor

One PRIVATE Bedroom with door...with 2 open-able screened skylights, good standing height a double bed and 1 small closet for clothes, the other full of blankets.
A second PRIVATE Bedroom with a door is at the opposite end of the cabin with a double bed and a screened open-able skylight but lower ceiling height and one small closet.
Two additional comfortable mattresses are in the middle room upstairs with a large open-able skylight.

All windows on both levels have screens and can be opened. There are screened patio doors on both ends of the cabin.

Outside is a LARGE covered Deck/Porch with picnic table.

Simple fireplace outside, and additional picnic bench - firewood for fires. Also a small BBQ - please bring your own charcoal!

Linen, pillows, towels, dishes, pots & pans, LOTS of drinking water in jugs (Kingston municipal water)...all set up and ready to move in!

Good cell phone reception but NO regular electricity. Battery and propane lamps provided. An electrical generator is available.

PLEASE NOTE: All reservations are "Rain or Shine". Arrivals and Departures from the island are WEATHER DEPENDENT! High winds or imminent thunderstorms may delay crossings, though winds usually die down by dusk. When weather is an issue we just keep in touch by cell phone and work things out...

I grew up in Rochester, NY, USA, but have lived all my adult life in Canada and Mexico. The island that I’ve listed has been in my family since 1963 – and I moved to Kingston, Ontario, Canada partly to be near it. I spent part of many summers enjoying the island and the water…as did my son and now my grandson. But I’m not there all the time!! The apartment I've listed is in an old farmhouse in the historic village of Portsmouth - part of old Kingston. I enjoy travelling, cooking, reading, swimming and meeting new people. And all of my cats have loved the island!

Pendant votre séjour
I take guests out to the island and orient them...and then leave. And then pick them up after. They can reach me by cell phone.
