Enjoy modern architecture and panoramic ocean views. Vaulted ceilings, open floor-plan, gas fireplace and interior waterfall/Koi pond with tropical plants create an impressive space to relax. Master suite with teak wood floors, ocean view, hot sauna, and sitting/yoga area. Gorgeous ocean view sunsets from private hot tub roof deck and attractive garden. Views from every room.

Le logement
This hillside villa provides an ideal quiet retreat for adults in good physical condition. If you're fine with staircases and like to walk or run, it will be ideal for you, because it is a nice walk to the beach (1.4 miles, 26 minutes per Google Maps) - otherwise it's a six minute drive. Hardwood floor in MBR suite in front of hot sauna is ideal for a couple to do yoga. Lots of steps, some winding, into the house, and also up to the MBR suite. Not safe or appropriate for children (steps, balconies, open fireplace, koi pond in living room). Not the place for your family beach vacation or any kind of party. It's on a private drive shared with two neighbors at the end of a dead-end street - parties, additional guests and gatherings are not appropriate for the neighborhood and could result in complaints.

You will have access to the entire house, EXCEPT for the garage, back stairs and back Deck. Everything you would be interested in is in the front anyway. Back door from laundry room on Level 1 is for emergency exit only.

Our cleaning and disinfecting protocols conform to the guidance provided by the California Department of Public Health: COVID-19 INDUSTRY GUIDANCE: Hotels, Lodging, and Short Term Rentals, Release date: June 5, 2020. We also follow the step-by-step procedures in the Airbnb Cleaning Handbook.
Based on this guidance, we can't store spare linens and towels in the rental space. We provide one set of bed linens for each bed, two sets of bath towels and one spa towel per registered guest. You can launder them during your stay if necessary. Guests should sleep only in the bedrooms on one of the three queen beds or on the inflatable queen mattress in the MBR suite. No one should plan to sleep anywhere else in the house. If you plan to use the extra inflatable queen mattress in the MBR, let us know when you book and we'll provide linens for it. Note we are required to wash all bedding, towels, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, whether they appear to have been used or not, every time we have guests,

Steep Driveway. Entry to the property is on the right side of the street, just past the mailboxes, you turn in a short private asphalt road that is shared with the two neighboring houses. After you turn in and go up that a short way, you will see the concrete driveway up to our garage on your left (see aerial photo provided), with our house number on the garden wall at the bottom of it. The driveway up to our garage is steep, and some people "bottom out" their cars on the concrete when entering or leaving. It's a bad idea to try to turn left into the driveway. To pull up into our driveway, you will want go past it, then back in. If you back in on the far side (along the wall) you will be fine. When you leave, you most likely will NOT be able to simply turn right out of our driveway and go back out (unless maybe you have a Jeep, for example). People often bottom out their cars on the pavement when trying to turn around on the way out - you can't just turn right out of our driveway - you would need to take it in several steps, forward, then back, the forward again, at the bottom of the drive where it's not so steep. Your other option is to pull straight out of our driveway (the short concrete driveway) then back out down the short private road (asphalt) you came in from the mailboxes. SUVs with high ground clearance are less likely to have a problem. If you have a long vehicle with low ground clearance (such as a family van) you may want to park by the mailboxes and walk up the drive, or be prepared to back out all the way to the road when you leave. (Read this when you arrive, or take a look at the aerial view, and it will be more clear).

Noise. Some guests complained abut noise at night, due to the noise of the waterfall and hot tub pumps. Best solution is don't plan for people to sleep in the living room - sleep in the bedrooms. Please don't take the queen air mattress out of the MBR suite - that's the only good place to use it.

The garden steps are uneven, and there are no handrails and some steep drop offs. You can feel free walk the main path from the house at your own risk.

We're on a private drive near the end of a dead end street. Very quiet area, so we need to be mindful of the neighbors. Close to beaches, restaurants, wine tasting. Soquel is a cute little coast-side town. Walk to wineries (Bargetto), tasting rooms, antique shops, restaurants. If you like to walk like we do, you can walk to the beach at Capitola Village (1.4 miles and 26 minutes according to Google). Otherwise a short drive or ride-share. This is Santa Cruz metro area. Just a little distance from the crowds makes for a peaceful stay. Great Thai food and many other options.

I have always enjoyed the coast side and spend most of my free time here while working in Silicon Valley. My wife and I loved this Airbnb so much we bought it to retire here eventually. Note a Certified Pool Operator enters the house to service the hot tub and Koi pond twice a week, on Tuesdays between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, and Fridays between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. He is a courteous professional, and will minimize any disruption to your visit. He will knock to give you notice that he is entering, but you don't need to answer the door. After knocking, he will come through the dining area and first flight of stairs up to the hot tub deck. He will also service the automatic feeder by the Koi pond in the Living Room. He typically finishes in 10 minutes or less. He won't enter any "private" areas, such as bedrooms and bathrooms. Since we need to maintain a regular schedule, we can't promise to reschedule these services, but if you have a particular concern, please let us know.

Our gardeners come on Tuesday mornings around 10:00 AM. and finish in less than 1 hour. Sometimes they work in the front garden.
