Relax at The Stone Cottage studio. Wander through the rambling garden to the lake; bbq beneath the stars or picnic and swim at the beach. Peaceful hideaway 10 mins from town. Bellbirds & fantails, rustic vibe, ideal for those wanting a unique, chilled out getaway at a simple, old school Kiwi bach.

Le logement
The Stone Cottage at Dublin Bay is a unique and quirky space where you can enjoy the simple rural Kiwi Bach experience. Originally built as a holiday home by Annabel's grandparents Buster and Marsie Wilson, The Stone Cottage has always been a much-loved destination for her family. The 1970s Cottage now houses a loft apartment and a small studio apartment upstairs where guests stay. You are fully self-contained up there with in a bach studio style set up with a very basic kitchenette, books and magazines. The apartment has a small wooden balcony and chairs and you can see the lake from the comfort of your queen size bed. The house itself is secluded and surrounded by a wild rambling garden. A four-minute stroll will take you down to Lake Wanaka, ideal for swimming with its sandy beach and framed, as always in New Zealand, by a background of mountains. When not chilling out in the garden or fishing on the lake, many of Annabel’s guests enjoy the outdoor pursuits for which Wanaka is increasingly famed: skiing, snowboarding, paddleboarding, rockclimbing, mountain biking. A family of four lives downstairs - you'll probably meet them in the garden. A permanent tenant also lives in the apartment adjacent to yours. Access is via the wooden stairs at the far side of the house - just walk along the gravel towards the boundary fence once you have parked your car.

Barbeque, small deck and chairs, board games, cards.

Annabel may be available to give you some local insights into the Central Otago district and can offer a tour of the local mountains in winter - just ask!

Here at The Loft @The Stone Cottage, you're just four minute's walk through the garden and native manuka to the lakeshore. Dublin Bay is a great place to get away any time of year. It's family friendly; a gorgeous spot for boating, swimming, mountain biking or wandering beside the lake through native manuka forest towards the Clutha river outlet. Overlooking Treble Cone and Black Peak, you'll be first to know when there's a fresh snowfall in winter as Wanaka's local ski and snowboarding mountains Treble Cone and Cardrona are only a 45 minute drive away.

You'll need a car because the home is 10 minutes' drive from Wanaka township, tucked away beneath tall pine trees down the end of a gravel road.

Accès des voyageurs

Autres remarques
A friendly cat called Slinky Malinky lives at The Stone Cottage.

There is a high fire risk in the Dublin Bay Area so absolutely light no fires at any time.

Annabel is a writer, working on a poetry collection and a new play. Her current obsessions are hot pineapple, finding the perfect snowflake and escapades in search of the horizon. Her favourite travel destinations include Chamonix, France; Byron Bay, Australia; Chang Mai, Thailand; Phnom Phen, Cambodia; Bali and the Pacific Islands. Annabel also owns a gig guide called ON Mag, which means she's the ideal host for helping with local's tips on all the cool things to see and do. As a adventurer, she's happy to take you on a tour of her favourite local walks and surf spots as well. She doesn’t live onsite but her brother Ben does, with his young family and a cat called Slinky Malinky who hangs out in the garden and is very friendly .
