Clean & fresh private bedroom decked in white in a cozy house a 5-minute ride from the airport. My place is more than a private bedroom, as you have access to the kitchen, dining, and living room to hang out. Get some work done with super fast WiFi. You'll love the keyless check-in & access to property. Restaurants, ATM, gas station, convenience stores all in walking distance of < 3 minutes. I know what guests want!

When you book, please tell me a little bit about yourself, your trip, why you are visiting the area. This is particularly true for people new to Airbnb that do not have any reviews yet. I do not allow UNREGISTERED GUESTS/VISITORS. Only the guests that are included by name on the booking are allowed onto the property per Airbnb, regardless of age.
Some fine print: My house has five bedrooms & three bathrooms (shared) spread out on three floors. There are other housemates and Airbnb guests on the property, so you’ll hear footsteps, water running, etc. Personally, I think this is one of the best things about my place as you’ll quite likely have the opportunity to meet others in the house, share a meal, do an outing, watch movies in the living room, hang out on the patio at night with a beer. Or if you’re not feeling social, you can keep to yourself. But the house is quiet at night and this is NOT a party place, just a place to chillax.

My place is for guests that are looking for a cozy, homey experience that offers value and personal interaction that a banal or corporate airport hotel just can’t provide. I strive to provide a “hygge” experience for guests as much as possible while providing an outstanding¬ value. What is hygge? Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cozy, charming, or special.
I’ve been a 5-star Airbnb guest since 2015 with at least 50 stays in dozens of countries--check my profile as a guest to verify. I have seen the good, bad, and ugly of Airbnb…and know what other guests are looking for because I am a veteran traveler. I’ve been to over 60 countries now! Ask me about Bangladesh in your intro for extra points. :)
If you’re like me, you want an easy check-in & access to the property, be able to get that WiFi password to get online ASAP, get cleaned up with a hot shower, then feel welcome to spread out and enjoy the space, cook a meal, watch TV, all this with minimal guesswork, hassles, where it all flows and is intuitive.
I enjoy chatting with guests, but will respect whether you want to chat a lot, a little, or not at all.
There are no keys to lose or to return! My place provides secure, keyless entry with an August Smart Lock. You can lock and unlock the door from your smartphone, using a unique virtual key or personal entry code issued to you for the duration of your stay.
All of the bedrooms in my house are private rooms, and the bathrooms are shared and are not in-suite.

One request I have before booking: Please have a valid form of payment ready when your request to stay is approved. For most guests, this means that you have your credit card information entered under “payment methods” in your Airbnb profile. I will call Airbnb to cancel your reservation if your payment is not successful within 30 minutes of my accepting your request to stay; this is in fairness to other potential guests, as it keeps my calendar clear so that they may make a booking. If you have payment issues and my place is still available when your payment information has been straightened out, you can then make your reservation. Thanks for your understanding.

The only door for going in and out is the back door, so don't come to the front door or use it to leave. There are steps to get to the back door, so please keep these accessibility issues in mind before booking. Guest area is the main, ground floor, which is the bedroom, private bathroom, and the communal areas of the kitchen, dining, room, and living room.
The only off-limits areas are the basement, other guests’ private rooms, and the garage, and laundry room. There would be no need to go in these areas anyway. If you have laundry to do, to cover costs of the extra utilities, it’s $5 per load and can be settled through the Airbnb app, just ask me about it.

Autres remarques
I keep my place clean, so please take your shoes off upon arrival in the mudroom, keep your shoes there, and please don't wear other outdoor shoes while in the house to maintain this cleanliness.

There is a small, cute dog (Maltipoo named Ginger) in the house that you'll see putting around. Also, I have other roommates & guests that live in this house. I believe these additions will only enhance your experience, the camaraderie of all the guests coincidentally meeting and coming together, usually at meal time is one of my favorite aspects of Airbnb.

The neighbor next door has more items on his driveway than I would prefer, but he is harmless and chances are that guests will not notice this unless they are looking out for this.

My place is located in St Louis County, in the city of St John specifically, so I want to make it clear that guests should not expect to see the Gateway Arch in the distance while enjoying a glass of wine on the back patio. However, this place is super close to the airport, yet remarkably quiet. The Casper mattress for guests will make for an even better night of sleep with this solitude.

I cook occasionally and may offer guests some of the food but this should not be a guest expectation...it's just at my discretion.

I enjoy travel (been to 60 countries now) and stayed in a lot of Airbnb properties as a guest, and I love to chat about being a guest and host...I take cues from guests about how much interaction to have and let it go from there. Welcome!

The neighborhood is a safe, working class, mostly residential area with homes built in the ‘40s & ‘50s. The main draw for my place is of course the proximity to the airport, perfect for airline employees, traveling nurses etc. Also, once here, getting food or a quick meal can be done without a car, there are several options within walking distance. The Mexican restaurant just 3 minutes away is a must-try. A convenience store with an ATM is even closer. I have a dry erase / cork board in the dining room that lists other nearby options, most can be reached on foot.

Little did I know during my first stint as a guest in a pensioners’ tiny spare bedroom during a 2015 Barcelona trip that Airbnb would impact me as much as it has. The concept of staying in an Airbnb is still as fresh to me now as during my first stay. That someone with a spare bedroom could make use of it to provide extra income, give value to guests beyond what a hotel ever could, and that the guest could have memories and experiences beyond a traditional lodging experience at more affordable price, well, that had me hooked. I knew one day I would be a host. So I am a single guy with a large house with several spare bedrooms, I bought the house in late 2019 and have been slowly fixing up the rooms, opening them up to guests in March 2020. My goal with each guest is to let them feel as they have “won” when it comes to the value they received when they’ve chosen my place. A little about me is that I grew up in St Louis, went away to college, then was the Air Force for 11 years. One of my earlier assignments in the Air Force was in Germany, which is where I caught the travel bug. Yep…I was young man living and earning a decent salary in the heart of Europe and had a car at my disposal, so I made the most of it, seeing as much as I could in my three years there. After the Air Force, I took some time off and just traveled for months at a time, kind of this bohemian, Jack Kerouac type of lifestyle. Some of the more exotic countries from which I have great stories include Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, and Malaysia. The latter is my favorite country by the way…the food is just too good and is not internationally known, what a shame. Now I am back home and have a home, the backpack is semi-retired, and have this house and love interacting with travelers and hearing their stories.

Best way to reach me is through the Airbnb app other than just speaking to me directly. I am around a lot; my job is mostly online and I live in the house of course, usually in the basement at my computer. Of course, we’ll share the kitchen, living room, and dining room. I’ll do my best to meet & greet guests upon arrival if possible, but with me there or not, you will be able to get in.
