"Mezcal Molly" is a 1976 Avion 34 foot trailer, lovingly refurbished to reflect the character and colors of her new home in the Texas high desert just outside of Big Bend National Park. Molly is located at the famed Marathon Motel RV park, which gives our guests access to a beautiful courtyard, outdoor fireplace, and an astronomy park.. Molly easily sleeps four with a full-size bed and two singles, has workspace, WiFi, AC, and a full bathroom with shower.

Le logement
Our craftsmen designed Molly's new interior for comfort and a cultural fit to Texas Trans Pecos region. They kept the original wood, added an epoxy wood block kitchen counter top, and a copper kitchen sink. There is also a safe for valuables, a new, large refrigerator, air conditioning, heater, towels, extra blankets, desk that seats 2-3, power in all parts of the camper, microwave, and 2-burner electric cooktop. A picnic table, and the RV park's sparkling rest rooms and shower facilities are right out the door. The Marathon Motel is a Route 66 style motor court that has been completely redone in stucco and desert earth tones, and the cabins are great places to accommodate any of your extra guests. The motel was featured as a setting in the classic 1980s film, "Paris, Texas," which was written by Sam Shepherd.

Où se situe le logement

Marathon, Texas, États-Unis

Mezcal Molly was named after the intoxicating beverage that is distilled from a desert plant. She sits about an hour north of the main entrance to Big Bend National Park, and in the small town of Marathon, Texas. If you are driving all day from one of the major cities of Texas, Marathon is the perfect place to stop and rest before exploring the park. The White Buffalo Bar is just down the road a half mile, along with the 12 Gage Restaurant, and a new BBQ joint. Head west 30 minutes for Alpine with great Mexican food, Murphy Street art, upscale dining, minor league baseball at legendary Kokernot Park, music at Railroad Blues, and the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University. Another 30 minutes west is Marfa, a small town with an international reputation for art, film, and cuisine, and 30 minutes north of Marfa is Fort Davis, home of the Buffalo Solider Fort, which was manned by African-American cavalrymen protecting stage coach travelers and settlers in the 1800s. The local drug store operates an old-fashioned soda fountain that turns out miraculous milk shakes.

Marathon is also not far from the Terlingua Ghost Town and the scenic River Road, which is also Ranch Road 170. The "ghosts" are still having a good time down there, dancing and making music on the porch of the general store, eating at the new restaurants, or driving the River Road to scenic overlooks of the Rio Grande separating the US from Mexico.

The weather out here is almost always perfect. Temperature variances range from the high 80s to low 90s daytime and high 50s to low 60s at night. Now you understand all the reasons Molly ended up in Marathon.

Because we are in the area intermittently, we have arranged contacts for our guests who might have issues. We will provide numbers for individuals who can handle any cleaning or maintenance problems that might arise, and there is almost always a manager working in the front cabin of the motel. We will also provide our personal phone numbers.
