Le logement
The cabin is on our nearly 400 acre tree farm under conservation easement with the Vermont Land Trust. Its private and secure location will give you a sense of being in your own forest home and the elevation on the back deck gives the feeling of a treehouse! The location on Route 2 in Saint Johnsbury Vermont allows easy driving to the best Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and the Northern New Hampshire area offers and highlights and interesting places to visit are with the cabin manual!
The barn you’ll pass on the way to the cabin has been converted into our home both places are on grid tied solar power from the tracking solar array you’ll see in the field. Both places are also on emergency generator power if that becomes necessary, though it rarely is needed.
The cabin is newly renovated and freshly furnished! It has a full kitchen and table for four, a living room with two Lazy Boy chairs and a long, wide couch to stretch out on.
The bathroom is on the main floor, accessed through the curtained French doors you'll see in the pictures.
The bedroom space is in the loft and there is a King size bed, dresser, and good lighting for reading on both sides of the bed! There is a trundle daybed for relaxing and reading or it can be made into one or two twin beds if needed.
You'll find large front and back porch areas to enjoy and a grill and a fire ring to use if wanted!

Où se situe le logement

Saint Johnsbury, Vermont, États-Unis

Our Farmstead is 3 minutes from Saint Johnsbury. St. Jay, as it’s called locally, is known for its role in being where the Fairbanks family designed and manufactured platform scales and their success can be seen by the beautiful contributions they made in the town, namely the Fairbanks museum and planetarium and the Saint Johnsbury Athenaeum. This houses our library as well as an amazing art collection, highlighting the Hudson Valley paintings of the Victorian era. The architecture of these buildings as well as so many lining Main Street and the adjacent streets showcase the roots of this town.
An easy 20 minutes north gets you to the Burke Mountain area and the Kingdom Trails- an internationally know bike trail system.
We are also centrally located to other ski and recreational areas such as Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch, Bretton Woods and Mount Washington area; North Conway if you lean towards a little outlet mall shopping!
Locally, check out the farm and fresh food and drink establishments that are making Saint Johnsbury a little foodie hub! Right across from our drive is Roots Too Farm, a seasonal organic vegetable farm and not a mile away on Route 18 is The Gingue Family Farm where fresh vegetables, beef and wheat flour and whole grain is sold. The also grow barley, which is used by the downtown St. Johnsbury brewery, Whirligig, to brew their Northeast Kingdom Ale. A visit to Railroad Street in St. Johnsbury you’ll find Whirligig Brewery, The Kingdom Taproom and Table, other restaurants and cafes and the Saint Jay Distillery. The distillery is a treat to tour with an emphasis on the end of Prohibition, complete with Al Capone’s piano!

I’m a veterinarian, mostly retired but happy to be helping at our local cat shelter when needed. Whether here on our Farmstead or when on vacation or camping trip, Ric and I love finding woods and trails to explore!
