We opened the doors of "Das Peach Pit" to vacation guests for the first time in 2015 but we've been landlords for this former long term rental (and others in Avl) for the past 23 years! We are a legally zoned and permitted short term rental south of downtown Asheville. Named with a nod toward our house's moniker "Das Peach Haus" after my husband's lifelong nickname "Peach", this space is a newly renovated and furnished ground level apartment with plenty of natural light and it feels like a wonderful retreat. Open the doors of this former carriage space on the first level of our home onto a modern living area with brick walls and freshly painted concrete floors softened with natural jute rugs. The exposed copper pipes complete the urban loft feel. The living room provides you with comfortable seating and a 42" HDTV with Local HD network TV, Netflix, HuluPlus and Bluray DVD for your viewing pleasure. The premium BeautyRest Queen bed with luxury linens is behind a 3/4 wall for privacy and a dresser is available to unpack your bags. A handcrafted wood slab and pipe desk awaits your laptop which will have access to high speed WiFi should you need to conduct business during your stay. Please let us know if you need printer access. Our fully equipped kitchen provides everything you need to cook meals and includes intimate seating for two or enjoy an evening on the private patio grilling up a romantic meal on the charcoal grill. Keep a mean game of Scrabble going on the refrigerator while you cook. Bed linens are provided for a third guest on the couch or a twin air mattress by request. We live across the street from a 1 acre park so bring your frisbee! The bathroom is stocked fluffy, freshly laundered towels and "Fresh Air" Shampoo/Conditioner/Soap from Beekman 1802 Mercantile. This is a fresh, non-musty, air-conditioned ground level apartment, not to be mistaken as a basement. Rates vary on weekends and during peak season ($95-$115 with 2 night minimum stay). We live in Oak Park in a cluster of historic houses south of downtown Asheville. Our property is one of six houses that surrounds a one acre park where you will regularly find families practicing baseball and soccer and neighbors running with their dogs amidst the towering oak trees that give the neighborhood its name. Our home was previously owned by a large loving family who ran a greenhouse on the adjacent property which now houses a family owned Hispanic Market. A distinctive feature of our home is the Christmas tree planted by the former family in the front yard over 40 years ago that now towers over the house. We fully remodeled and lovingly restored the interior of our home in 2003, including building the apartment in the former carriage "house" space. We are now working on finishing the exterior (just paint, no noisy tools!). Tim is a general contractor and I am an artist. This space is a beautiful collaboration of both of our strengths.
Great convenience to the Asheville Regional Airport, Blue Ridge Parkway, NC Arboretum, DuPont State Forest and major thoroughfares to anywhere in Asheville./Hendersonville. We are within walking distance of a major grocery store/Starbucks, CVS/Walgreens, YMCA, urgent care and several eating establishments. We are a 5 min drive to WalMart and a large Target Center shopping area as well as many local and chain restaurants. Downtown Asheville is a 20 minute drive or Uber trip away and we are central to all outdoor activities in the area.

Transplants from Southern California in 1992 we have loved raising our family in the Asheville area. Our eldest, a daughter, was married in 2015 and lives with her husband (who works for Sierra Nevada) and our grandson in the Hendersonville area. Our middle son lives and works in downtown Asheville and our youngest son is a 2020 graduate from our small private school and is headed to college in the fall. Tim is a licensed general contractor and insurance adjuster. Elisa is an artist and art teacher at a PK-12 private school. We have restored multiple historic properties in the Asheville area over the last 24 years including a condemned house in the Montford Historic District for which Tim won the prestigious Griffin Award for historic preservation in 2004. Our commitment to faithful restoration is apparent in this property which we fully remodeled and restored in 2003. We have been landlords for several long term rentals in the area for 29 years, including this apartment, and have enjoyed the transition to vacation rental. We love both stimulating and laid back conversation with our friends and appropriate mood music (we can't live without our Bose Sounddock or Sonos), good food (esp Mexican) and craft beer and wine. Our love of the outdoors takes us to California's Yosemite National Park for camping every summer and to our family condo on the gulf coast as often as we can get there. We enjoy hiking and biking and late night fire pits. We can point you to the usual and the unusual spots in Asheville so just ask. We can make a church recommendation if that's important to you. We think we have the best friends in the world and we especially love making new ones. We look forward to your visit!

We live in the main part of the house with our own entrance. We would love visiting and interacting with you but are also content to let you enjoy your complete privacy for the duration of your stay. If we are in town we hope to greet and welcome you upon your arrival. Perhaps we can share a glass of wine or cold craft beer on our front porch. If we aren't here to greet you our two dogs will do it for us. Cleo (brown terrier mix) is our old girl and will probably be the one barking. Guy (white terrier mix) is an attention hungry 2yo. They both love a head scratching. And if you hear a siren, you will hear Guy answering back! We provide a guide to some of our favorite destinations in Asheville but feel free to ask us for advice if you don't see what you're looking for. Or if you discover you've left something behind that you need, just ask. We are a text/phone call away. We want your stay to be great!
