This newly refurnished and fully equipped two floors country house includes 2 living rooms and 3 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms . The 1 hectare garden offers a spectacular view on Orvieto that can be enjoyed while relaxing in the 5x10m private pool.

Le logement
Located east of Orvieto, “La Selciata” is situated on a “garden-terrace” from which you can enjoy a unique and exceptional view of the Etruscan city and its cathedral built by Pope Nicholas IV. It has an extensive highland behind where for centuries vines have been cultivated thanks to the microclimate and the volcanic earth.

The name of the house derives from the presence on its land of a “selciata” or paving stone of a Roman road (circa 260 B.C.) that connected Orvieto to Rome, still partly visible

Accès des voyageurs
Our guests can enjoy the enclosed garden, designed by the British architect Peter Curzon and framed by mature oaks that give welcome shade in summer. It has native plants and trees such as elaeagnus, viburnum, bay, spiraea and cypress. The private 5 x 10 metre swimming pool, fully equipped with sunbeds and cane chairs, is behind a small, rose-covered slope. The house, recently renovated, is full of family mementoes and has all the comforts of home as well as many special features such as fireplace, handmade terracotta tiles, parquet in the bedrooms (cool in the summer) and en-suite bathrooms. It has exposed beams and old coloured old doors.

Walking or bicycle excursions can be organized at extra costs; thematic tours and archaeological areas as well as exclusive visits to the excavations (Campo della Fiera) or to small museums (Museo Faina or Museo dell’Opera del Duomo); visits can also be organised to the Cathedral with its exceptional frescoes by Luca Signorelli and Beato Angelico, executed fifty years before the Sistine Chapel, and its crypt with its sarcophagi, in the footsteps of the famous “Grand Tour” that the English took in the 18th century to perfect their classical studies. Orvieto has numerous churches and historical, art and architectural treasures, as well as natural attractions such as the Oasi di Alviano, or underground wells and columbarium. And last but not least there is the local cuisine renowned for its gourmet quality, as well as wine tastings in the many wineries in the area.

It is also possible to attend - again at extra costs - through the Associazione Orvieto Viva, special tours to archeological sites and the currently in progress escavations (Campo della Fiera); Naturalistic Oasis (Oasi di Alviano) with an interesting bird watching but only in some period; the extended underground with caves, wells and the old "colombaie" dovecotes; the Gotic Cathedral with famous San Brizio Chapel and its frescoes by Beato Angelico and Luca Signorelli, previous of fifty years of those by Michelangelo in Sistina Chapel in the Vatican; to hear a concert in the Cathedral; to attend to a theatrical show; to visit the Pozzo di San Patrizio;to see the Umbro -Toscan '400 century school frescoes cycle in many churches; the interesting local museums like the Opera del Duomo and the Museo Faina.

The handicraft is essential part of economic social fabric with ceramic, the embroider, the work of wood. Really, many are the restaurants where is possible to eat excellent Umbrian dish . It is possible to organize at extra cost short trip by bycicle, cultural excurtions, archeological and naturalistic (bird wathching) trips also overnight with English guide.

Many and many are the beauty places which can be reached in a day car trip in Tuscany and Umbria.
