This Gypsy Wagon, located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, is nestled in the woods, supremely private, off-grid and deeply serene. Besides the natural chorus of the woods, listen for the horses neighing and the loll of the nearby dairy cows. Everything you need is supplied except WiFi, your imagination, gypsy soul and groceries/ice. Though one dog is permitted, we appreciate your leaving the additional cleaning fee of $15 in the envelope supplied to offset the cost of deep cleaning.

Le logement
You will be the only ones in the woods in this wagon. It is spooky and delicious at night. Though there is no shower at the wagon, there is a place for a cold water wash-up in the warmer months in the 'fancy' outdoor privy. Clean water is provided for cooking, washing and dousing fires. You'll have the choice between the intimate indoor kitchen or the open-air outdoor kitchen. We provide battery operated lights, oil lamps and candles. There is a potbelly stove for the cooler months and an outdoor fire ring. Firewood is provided by the hosts and the surrounding woods. Reminder: no running water or electricity. Cell coverage is patchy. Winter guests should be familiar with heating with wood and comfortable snow shoeing. There is no WIFI. The bed is comfy yet quite small, a bit smaller than a double. My husband and I enjoy the closeness but be prepared to cuddle. Sleeps 1 comfortably or 2 people who really like each other ;-). This is truly a tiny house, 7X14. There is a cot available for those who find the berth too cozy for 2. We have a rule, should you bring your dog, we ask you bring him/her with you should you travel out and not leave them behind.

Accès des voyageurs
The wagon is located on a 6 acre wood with trails for walking. The location of the entrance to the woods is between 2 properties that are not a part of the wagon. There is a house on one side and a trail going back to a camp on the other. Although our neighbors are quite welcoming, we ask that you give them their privacy and if you have any questions that you instead stop by 1284 S. Albany Rd (one house down) and we'd be more than happy to help if we are around. If you come before 9 pm you are welcome to use our phone too. If you need additional water, fire wood or anything else, please let us know and we will make sure to leave it at the entrance to the trail up to the wagon. For more trail walking or skiing, you can take a short drive to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center cross country skiing and running trails or Barr Hill Nature Reserve in Greensboro.

Autres remarques
Due to no electricity, outdoor privy, walking trails and short walk up to the wagon from the parking pad, wise to bring clothes/boots suitable for our wonderful fall/winter weather.

Craftsbury, Vermont, États-Unis

You will be staying in a fabulous part of New England. Two of the finest General Stores around with organic, freshly prepared food. Many world renown cheese makers within minutes , craft brewers, and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, home of year-round Olympic athletes and a place to get an amazing lunch (call for reservations) where there are also miles and miles of trails to ride, ski or walk, rent skis or a kayak to take on Hosmer Pond (don't be fooled, it is quite an extensive 'pond' and plenty of loons in residence). Also very near stunning Lake Caspian public beach and beloved Willey's Store. You are near the politically radical puppet theater, Bread and Puppet, The Museum of Everyday Life ("I make the museum to glorify the gleeful wish to be driving down the road and see some strange sign, and go in and find something wonderful" says curator/owner Clare Dolan), The Highland Center of the Arts, and Miller's Thumb Gallery. I imagine you will agree after a visit, there is no place like the Northeast Kingdom!!

I am originally an urban Midwesterner who gratefully made my way to the Northeast Kingdom, Vermont which is like taking a giant step back in time. There is a substantial local agrarian economy, general stores, and working farms. This land where we live is surrounded by unspoiled and outlandish natural beauty in all directions. With our days and by the seasons, we tend gardens, care for the barn animals, maintain and build trails, play and work through the winter folly, soak in the beauty year-round and eat great local food that Larry prepares. We also have 'day jobs'. Besides being a fab cook, Larry farms, is a builder and table maker (see Vermont Heritage Tables online). I maintain a small private mental health practice. Larry is an avid sci-fi reader where I am more likely to binge on Netflix. We both have lived and worked abroad separately and together. The next big trip we are planning is to Vietnam. Neither of us have traveled to the East before. Cheers!
